argos flatpack log cabin

you know what, i think it could work. i dont think they are offering it as a replacement for a HOME, but maybe a holiday home or something. i mean plumbing and electricity is obviously an issue. and then theirs location! thats the hardest bit. If argos were to offer some sort of guide, or help in finding a location for this, then i think it could REALLY take off, especially with all the housing crisis and what not. if i were to buy 10 of these right now and set them up near the sea side, like Cornwall or something, in prime locations, i swear i could make a killing.
whos up for it, i can invest £20, anybody want to invest the £70,000 for 10% share in the company?

to be honest i don't think it could compete with normal houses (inland), it would just look strange next to a normal house, or in a normal neighborhood, unless the whole neighborhood was made of houses like these, which brings me onto my next idea! like a caravan park type of thing, but we would have to make a big sign outside saying "no pikies allowed"

I have a feeling this is meant to fill the gap for those building extra living space into their back gardens.

There has been an explosion of mostly illegal small dwellings (glorified sheds) all around the country mainly due to immigration with landlords wanting to extract every last bit of value from a property.

We bought a wooden toy box from Argos once, it said some 'self assembly required' on the box, fair enough it is only a box, 4 sides a bottom and a lid.

Got it home opened the packaging, it was a pile of wood!!!!

It went back!!!

From a business angle, its a great idea for an office. Rent some land and buy one of those - seems ideal for a small business needing office space for a handful of people.

Argos arent the first to make these, places like B&Q, Homebase and Wickes have had them for the best part of a year and have been trying to sell them as "outdoor offices", but people kept thinking of them as fancy sheds with windows.

I have wanted one for a while to use as a studio. But My garden would only fit a small one and I need a lot of space :(

Totally up for the caravan park idea! I can invest another tenner ;)

I live on the seafront plots sell from £300,000.

Might put a spanner in the works.:rolleyes:

Yes as per anothers comments Ive put together argos flat pack and its shite! I have no problem with Ikea stuff, argooose is what it is; cheap tat.

the thing i love about argos is that they will always take things back for a refund. i bought a office chair, and i put the screws in too tight, so the plastic of the back piece just snapped off, and i fixed it with superglue, and even then it snapped of again, so i took it back and said that i was missing some screws LOL it was obvious that i broke it my self, but the kid was helpful and gave me a refund.

That and the estate agents' "tastefully decorated throughout" :(

I've got a small version of one of these in my garden which I use as a studio. Mine is around 14ft by 7ft and it took three blokes (who do this for a living) two full days to put up, so I'd hate to think how long that would take.
As an office space I highly recommend them, in winter its warmer in there than it is in my house.

I wanted one of their garden rooms, but they didn't deliver to the Isle of Wight. So I went to the Finn Forrest website (its them who make them, but only do commercial sells and not to joe public) who have a facility to find your local supplier.

It took a day to erect, though credit has to be made for the site manager (me) for ticking the pick list and organising the pieces so as to have a logical order. Am in the process of completing it in the next few days. Lots of electrics going in as well as an alarm and two-way lighting into the house too. A few days back it was pretty cold indoors, yet when in the studio putting down the carpet and putting up white and peg boards, had to have the window open as I've also had foil coated insulation added too.

These houses do have the potential to provide genuine low-cost homes, and using technology from Finland, could be enviromentally complient too. They have to be better than some pokey damp flat that some people are expected to grateful for...

Same here, I'd be interested in doing some sort of business with it, I have just done a deal for £600 so willing to invest that! At least I'll be one of the biggest shareholders!

There are many firms that supply these pre-built for say £30,000 plumbed the works and if you want it on a plot then maybe you're talking £120,000+. Land costs money!

But if you want it assembled I'd give it a go!
