An alternative to Sage Pay?

Looks like we'll be switching from Sagepay. We used to be with WorldPay but when we changed merchant providers (Streamline to Barclays) my web designer convinced me Sagepay had a better interface etc. Unfortunately they have been a complete nightmare to deal with. The main problem began when I asked them to add euro and US dollar processing to the gateway - Barclays issued four unique terminal ID numbers (two for each currency), but some numpty at Sagepay only entered one of the euro numbers onto the system, and so 3/4 of foreign currency transactions were failing. It took me ages to sort that out.

Now we have another huge problem. About 90% of our website customers are receiving a message saying their transaction has failed, when it hasn't. According to my web designer, Sagepay are approving the initial request our server sends but then it thinks it is receiving a second request for the same transaction, which it fails and then sends the customer the failure message. As you can imagine we're now getting loads of issues with customers thinking their purchase has failed and so they are doing it again, some three times before they stop and contact us. Sagepay are denying it's their fault, even though the problem suddenly started happening at 6.30pm on a Sunday when my web designer was on holiday, i.e. we'd made no changes to anything on our site or systems. I can't see any other way forward other than to switch to another provider.

I do need to know from you guys running alternative gateways, can you handle multi-currency? With Sagepay we take payments in euros and US dollars and these are deposited straight to our Barclays euro and US dollar bank accounts. This is an important set-up for me and so I won't work with any gateway provider who cannot handle such a system.

It really depends on the value of payments in each denomination. Feel free to send me a personal message and I can let you know.

Fair enough, I'm assuming Worldpay would be compatible with Barclaycard as well if Sagepay is.

If it is a MID (merchant ID) only account with Barclaycard (or any other acquiring bank for that matter) it should be possible to switch to an alternative Payment Gateway with the same MID, as long as the Gateway is supported.

He's already using Sagepay rather than ePDQ, so I assume that would be the case.

Have you tried Alipay? 40% Chinese people using it, if you doing international business with Chinese people, you can apply an international alipay account.

Do not, under any circumstances, use this unless you are doing very significant volumes of business in China. There is a big risk to you in so doing - you need to know how to get your money out of China.
