One for the insurance experts; tagging @Frank the Insurance guy
We have a riding school; comes with the usual kit and has insurance on said kit, including public liability in case a bale of hay falls on a customer, etc. We have a Ford Pickup that is SORN and used to transport materials across the fields, plus a Quad also SORN and used for harrowing, but yesterday we purchased a Polaris Ranger to get around and it is road legal.
Now we'd assume it would as simple as adding to our existing insurance, but as we plan to use it to nip to and from the house which includes about 1 mile on the road - nope. We also don't seem to be able to get 'car insurance' for it to do so.
The dealer says we don't need to insure it for use on the road as it is an agricultural vehicle, but this doesn't seem right because who would cough up if we hit someone while on that 1 mile of road?
