Hii

im quite new on ecommerce , was just wonndering after you get order on web site , paid with credit card, how u send it?

do u do deals with post office? how the system works please briefly explain.

Hello

Well if you have a proper system in place then it should stamp and all that for you and label

But as you are new the best thing to do is deal with the post office etc until you are doing order over 300 a wekk then you need to look at opeing an account with parcel force to get discounted rates

Please let me know if this is any help

Thanks
Austin

You can automatically produce postage labels through paypal if you use this as your payment gateway.

You simply weigh your item, input the postage and print off your label.

If your not using paypal, you can do it all online via Royal Mail's website.

You could also call Royal Mail to speak to a Business Advisor,

Rule of thumb is... if you are sending over an average of 100 packets a week... and that's anything over 100gm or over 5mm thick or over A5 in size, you may be eligible for a Packetpost account that will give you discounts over normal stamp rates.

You are also able to add Recorded Signed for if you need a signature and..... Packetpost will allow you to send upto 2kg 2nd class too !

I hope this helps

If you are posting regularly and particularly if the post office is small you may be able to arrange to just drop a bag of a few parcels along with some money. No queuing.

Very fast compared with printing postage labels off!

You don't have to go with Royal Mail. Check DHL and UPS sites for their offers. Sometimes you can get a good deal with them. Also - you can either drop the goods off, or arrange a pick up, say, once every week. Depends on the quantities.

We went for the packet post thing & didnt find it was any use at all, rtaher complicated, no tracking feature and we had to lug it all to our local post office.

They do pick up but charge a fee per month which kills any savings you make unless your doing big numbers.

There are many couriers out there really fighting for business at the moment.

We have also just discovered that Fastway will deliver anything that will go into their large 5kg bag for 3.95 + vat & they now give you 30 days to pay for the tickets.
This only applies to their covered areas which is about 80% of the country.

The best tip I cna give you is to ask all the couriers for a quote, over estimate what you would be sending to get better rates.
Don't take thier first offer as they will come back with a cheaper price after a few weeks & they are all very hungry for business.

You have to factor in that certain areas such as highlands & islands are alot higher with some firms, although dhl have just offered to do them for £6.00 which is better than our current rate of £12.00 per delivery.

hope that helps
