Hi - just looking for a bit of advice really. We have survived this long without out a fax machine, but with a new client from abroad, I need to get one (long story!) - what is better, buying/leasing a fax machine or getting some virtual fax software for my computer?

Thanks for any help!

Rob

Depends what you want to fax. If its mainly stuff on your computer then go with fax software as its cheaper. If you are planning to scan hard copies then a fax machine is the way forward.

If you have a scanner for your computer then you could use that in conjunction with fax software. Its not as quick as just having a plain fax machine though!!!

As above I use the quicktele fax to email service and it's fine.

I have an 0870 number and all fxaes come in as a pdf doc.

Works great for me as I don't send many faxes.

Thanks guys, however Rob needs the number for international clients and although 0870 numbers are able to be called from 90% of the world there is still the 10% that cant.
Basically under developed countries are a no, but all Europe, USA, Australia, etc are fine. What countries do you need the Fax-2-Email service to be contactable from and I'll check for you.

Hi,

Im currently using gradwell.com but its just fax to email at the mo but if you only trading locally in the UK, you can get a local code number! How fantastic is that?

I did waste 80 quid on a fax machine first though!

I met Peter Gradwell at the Ecommerce Awards last year, we were both up for different awards, although I have known him for a couple of years before that. He's a very intelligent guy and does a lot of work for the "Internet community", and has some "wicked" IT gadgets behind the scenes such as his Voice Over IP switchboard system that works through a broadband connection.
