AdSense users - How many clicks go missing?

I use AdSense on a few different sites, have AdSense set up so it tells me how individual sites are doing.

I also have Statcounter set up on the site

Statcounter has an Exit link activity section which tells you what exit link was clicked,

All traffic is genuine, all exit link clicks are genuine, throughout the day, different IP's

On one site - Statcounter has recorded 16 exit links via AdSense today, Adsense has recorded 4 clicks

Looking back on other days, it appears to be about the same.

Do others check things like this and if so how many of your AdSense clicks are you actually being paid for?

Sometimes it may take some time for Google adsense to update its data, did you recheck later to see if the clicks matched with the ones on your stats counter?

I'm also thinking some devices that users have may block cookies from Google causing ineffective tracking by Google and some discrepancies from time to time.
