Adding a non-executive director to the board

Can somebody please tell me how I legally go about adding a non executive director to the board of my company ? Do I have to go via Companies House or a solicitor etc ?

I would imagine you appoint them then advise co house that you have a change in the directors. Why not give them a call, they are usually helpful
