Add a New Forum Section

Having been reading the thread started by @benmay100 I believe the forum owners should consider adding a Job wanted and Jobs available sections to the forum, as we have many excellent business owners and some excellent people on this forum who may be in a position to contribute to small businesses and am sure myself as well as others who have small businesses would love the opportunities to post jobs available at our business in the hope for another business owner on here to recommend a candidate, I see many industry specific forums have such a section in their forums and I believe UKBF should have one as well.

I don't think it is a good idea as most of us enjoy it being a forum for business owners .
This would bring non business owners to the site then they would start new post and commenting on things they know nothing about or have experience with .

The site indicates to visitors that it has employment knowledge and it does, it has fantastic and great knowledgeable members that know their onions . They are an asset to the site for people who are employing people but it brings in the wrong sort of questions from employed people who feel their company has one over them ect ect Then ask these questions that have no place here

This is why I feel this should be avoided

@JEREMY HAWKE Totally respect what you stated above and it truly make sense, however there must be a mechanism to make sure that the problems you stated could be avoided such as make it available to paid members, and if your looking for a job maybe charge them 10 pounds per year and only allow them to post in the jobs wanted or available, I only made my suggestion having read the thread of Benmay and I think some business owners would find it helpful personally I would gladly become a paid member as am struggling to find a couple of particular employees.

If I was recruiting, I would go to a site that specialised in recruitment. I would definitely not look on a forum made of of business owners, who most likely would recommend 'great candidates' that they want to get rid of.

Create a bespoke job section and they'll start screwing this place up as well.

I agree Clinton It is amazing how popular you can be when you have something they might want .

@JEREMY HAWKE am sure you have the best hair but its the helmet it doesn't let us see you in all your glory to be complimenting you, I do see @Clinton perspective but am sorry for the football talk, but am a great believer in that not every striker suits the style of every team, same goes with employees and employers.

I opened this thread so we can all exchange a point of view regarding the subject matter, I have found it does work in the various industry specific forums that I am a member of, and I do think there is a place for it here on UKBF if monitored and used wisely.

Hi guys

It's interesting to see my post has been raised in this way. The issue of getting the right staff seems to be an emotive one amongst us small business owners. I for one have been through hell and high water (especially this year as we've grown) trying to find the right people.

The whole issue, and the amazing response I have had from it has planted a seed ...... can I try and solve it? I think that for small businesses (who are small enough to not have a HR team) this is a pretty universal problem.

I wondered, do you guys know if I can use this forum to do market research on this? i.e. make a survey?

Yep. You can make a survey - the facilities are built into the forum already, when you start a thread.

No. I think that is a horrendous idea that will backfire very quickly. All sorts of people from all sorts of forgotten lands from all over the world will just come here to promote their cheap labour and they will spam like seagulls on a pizza slice.

I for one champion diversity since we are not all Anglo Saxon, there is a minimum wage structure within UK Law so there is no hope in hell for any cheap Labour as you put it, and as I mentioned there would be a charge to posters of Jobs and Job seekers so am sure those cheap Labour people you would be speaking of will find it prohibitive to Spam.

Your humour was spot on. But if I take your words seriously...here is my response to you:

I’m not promoting my business here, and my labour is anything but cheap. Most people probably won’t be able to afford me anyways.

I’m one of the very few people around her’ that don’t use a business name, a logo, not even a signature with all types of contacts, websites, adverts.

With that being said, I’m not falling into my own categorisation about the “seagulls and the pizza”.

Ta-ta.

P.S. #1 I love English language, I love English people, I love writing and I do write as an occupation. So it’s a professional flaw, if you call it a flaw; some people will name it “a strong point” because I’m posting quality content and original content by my beliefs.

P.S. #2 I also believe there’s more than enough “cheap labour” in Europe. We need Engineers, we need Doctors, we need Lawyers, we need Specialists. If you don’t understand me, I also speak German and Russian.

I'm with @JEREMY HAWKE the job center, monster jobs and many more established specific services all do good a good job at advertising employment positions and attracting people seeking new employment.

A b2b service/time swap or forum b2b discount section might be a better idea as it would attract small and new start ups on small budgets/restricted cash flow who seek vital help/guidance. It would be more in keeping with the purpose of this forum and a good way for bigger more established business to nurture and support the growth of potential new customers.

I can stomach a little bit of that so far but what I cant stand is when they go on about how their relationship has been effected and so on and so
