Thanks to everyone who helped me out and gave advice with the website, fabricator contacts, company structures, insurance, CE marks, WEEE, loans, bank accounts and everything else. This site has been an invaluable resource for information.

It's taken me just under a year from first concept to first order and I really have learnt so much. I went a little over budget and looking back made a few wrong calls, but all in I'm pretty proud of myself to be honest.

They look fun I must admit, I have no kids and so no use for them but good luck with the business. Good luck for the future.

Are you selling wholesale or individually? If its wholesale then its even more of an achievement to recieve your first order.

mmmm.... that's not good that you didn't understand immediately what they were from the website:( Maybe I need to make the home page a bit more obvious?

If you have a 6 month old child and you seem to spend a lot of time outside blowing on food to cool it down - this is what you want. A Coolfan.

However a lot of people during focus testing have said how much fun they are, and entertaining to children - like toys I guess. Maybe I need to push that point a bit further? I see them more like useful labour saving devices myself.

I picked it up straight away what it was, not sure what the problem was in working that out, but if someone cannot figure it out then there are probably countless others in the same boat.

Dont panic i took a look and i saw what it was all about quickly enough, you should be looking at getting the product shifted in volume through wholesalers and on to the big chains ..

Be a hard slog only in retail ..

But Mark, dont worry about me, I dont have kids yet, thats why I probably didnt get idea of it. Also Coolfan to me souded like Cool fans, like football fans.

I thought it would be a crazy selection of hand held fans, pretty much just hand-held versions of the actual fans on offer here.

I agree i didnt know what to expect either .. so i would have maybe created a name better suited to the product,,

I get the jist of it now though . and its all done and on the market now i guess ..

well I would not of had a clue how it worked and still don't .so big pics and more description.

Seems a nice funky producd should do well if you can get it in the supermarkets e.t.c.

I think they look great, my kids want one! just shown the wife and she will works in a nursing home and are not aloud to blow the food so she will mention it to the catering manager! I think it great my little one always asking me to blow his dinner! But we do it though don't we? :-)

Not sure why are people having a hard time figuring out what the product does.

The title at the top of the homepage is kind of a big clue:

"The coolfan is a funky fan designed to cool children's food in quick time".

I thought that too FLAUK, I only meant before I typed the url into my browser that I expected something else.

Wow great concept I really like it and got it straight away.

One thing though, the font is difficult to read, especially when there are a few lines of writing. I appreciate you want a 'fun' font but I'd advise you to change that. Besides, the logo has a fun font.

Yeah, a few people have said change the font actually. I will do that. BTW the logo font is in fact the same as the text font.

I see the website pretty much as primarily a portal for the customer to enable them to purchase a Coolfan easily. All my marketing needs to be done externally via baby websites/magazines because nobody is going to type "Childs food cooling device" into Google, because they don't know they exist.

I'm thinking my website just needs to be simple, functional and secure as I'm not in any ranking battles as I have no competition - yet. If you type 'Coofans' into Google you will get there. For this reason I never thought the product name needed to be descriptive either (e.g. kidsfoodcoolingfan) as with the marketing you will always see the name and an image together.

Am I being shortsighted here?

I guess asarelove means they will still charge p&p per weight or set rate? and all items £1

I would allow a local pick up service on the check out -they would have to be unique i guess because customers would look at local £1 shops :)

Hi, did you check out www.freewebstore.org it says free - well only for your first 15 items, to be able to add more and remove the banners you will upgrade from free to i think is £7 per month for the minimum but i have 200+ items on mine for £17 per month.
