1000sqft Industrial Unit - Heating Advice/Suggestions

Hi all!

I've recently signed terms for my first commercial lease for a 1000sqft unit. This is my first time renting any commercial property, haven't actually got the keys yet but I am trying to get some advice/suggestions on how would be best to heat it.

I don't think I would need to heat the entire unit - Just the dispatch area - the unit is open and there is no rooms, so my dispatch area would just be a couple of large packing tables and shelves around.

Just wondering if anyone here has any suggestions - 90% would be storage/shelving with stock, other 10% would be the dispatch area.

Of course I am looking for the most efficient / cost-saving way to heat. From what I've seen online, I think I would start with some infrared heaters or a quiet space heater (if they exist) to see how they go.

Would love to hear if anyone else has any recommendations from their own experience - or any electricians/heating experts here!

Thank you!

Do you definitely need to heat it? Especially with the cost of energy, while you're small just save the money and wrap up.

We don't heat our warehouse, they just know to wrap up warm in the winter. We heat up the office with a panel heater though...

If you're dead set on heating it then I would just build a little office around the dispatch area and have a little heater in there. A simple office is cheap and easy to build. Much better value than trying to heat a warehouse as it all just gets wasted IMO.

Yes I definitely don't need to heat the whole thing! Just a small packing area. Just not sure what is most energy efficient / infrared heaters, space heater though and was hoping for some recommendations.

As @LPB 123 suggested above, section off the area that needs to be heated first, then decide on the most effective form of heating for that space.

How many people will be working in this section?

How many hours will it need to be heated?

Energy saving options must be your consideration.

I would invest in quilted body warmers as a start.

Heat rises. Which mean the heater you install in the dispatch area will just keep the roof warm.

If you just want to heat a small area you need to isolate that area from the rest of the building.

Or buy thermal matting (keeps the feet warm) and warm clothes for your staff.

Without enclosing the dispatch area, this is the best solution:

Or buy thermal matting (keeps the feet warm) and warm clothes for your staff.

A little off subject, @sampsonzak please give us all comfort by saying you did get a solicitor to review the lease before you signed it?
