Shopify sales into FreeAgent - what's everyone doing since they killed the integration?

Bit of a moan and a question. I'm on FreeAgent (free through Mettle) and sell through Shopify. FreeAgent binned their Shopify integration back in April last year and the official advice now is literally to key transactions in manually.

Anyone else in the same boat? What are you actually doing - weekly manual summaries? Zapier? Gave up and moved to Xero?

I do a bit of dev work and I'm half tempted to build something myself. Daily sales summary posted into FreeAgent with the VAT done properly, Shopify fees and payouts matched up. But there's no point if everyone's happy enough doing it by hand. If it existed for a tenner a month would you bother? Straight answers appreciated, including no.

Do you need to record individual sales (from Shopify) in your accounts? if not, just record daily/weekly sales as a total.

That's what I've ended up doing, a weekly summary invoice into FreeAgent. Mostly works. The faff is the payout never matching the sales total because Shopify takes its fees out before paying, and refunds muddy it further, so there's still a manual step every week to make the bank feed agree with the summary. Fine at my volume but I can see it getting old fast for anyone doing real numbers. Do you do the same yourself or is that from the accounting side?

Enter sales in gross and costs separately. Run a report to create the figures for you.

Update for anyone finding this later: turns out FreeAgent now has an official integration via Equali (in Connections & Add-ons, does Shopify/Amazon/eBay/Etsy with fees and payouts). That answers it - thanks all.

Honestly, I’d probably give it a try for £10 a month if it actually saved me the hassle. It’s not really the Shopify sales that bother me, it’s keeping the fees, payouts and VAT all matched up properly.

I’ve had weeks where I’ve put off the bookkeeping simply because I knew I’d have to go through the Shopify payouts and work out what belonged where. If a tool could just handle that in the background and give me a clean daily or weekly summary, I’d definitely rather do that than enter everything manually.

Even saving an hour or two each month would make £10 feel pretty reasonable to me.
