Facebook Now Charging 'Location Based Fees' For Advertising

    Why is Meta introducing location fees?
    • The cost of delivering ads in specific jurisdictions is changing due to the evolving regulatory landscape, including digital services tax legislation.
    • Until now, Meta has covered these additional costs. These updates reflect Meta's continued commitment to adapting to regulatory developments and remain consistent with evolving industry norms.
    • Other major digital platforms may have similar fees to cover costs associated with DSTs and other location-based fees in these jurisdictions.


    So, in the UK, we will pay 2% extra.

    Is there are secret UK tax I am unaware of are are FB just trying it on, because they can?
     
    They need to do something about all the fake posts on the site, AI looks like it could kill the sites as people are fed up clicking onto a story and finding its all make belief

    No secret tax, its the DST, Google & Microsoft passed this straight on, Facebook apparently did not: https://www.gov.uk/government/publi...the-digital-services-tax/digital-services-tax

    It's not Meta being greedy this time. UK Digital Services Tax is 2%. They used to eat it. Now they're passing it on. Same as Google and Amazon did years ago.
