Hello, I'm new here. I started a digital media marketing company a month ago and I serve clients living in the UK. I have a website that shows the services I provide.

Today I noticed that the money sent by my customers using Barclays is not reaching my company account. I guess the bank can't verify that I'm a business. I have two different business digital banks but have the same problem with both. Barclays dont send money to my business accounts.

How can I solve this issue?

Message from one of my clients using Barclays:
"the bank is making a lot of enquiries. they say they don’t see any your company offering marketing services.they checked online…. asked me where the company is based, why am ı paying, what am ı selling… so much.. and somehow made them cancel the transaction."

The problem is not at your end but it's between your customers and their bank.

The banks have often been too suspicious about customers withdrawing even their own money.

Whenever I was asked what am I going to do with my money I would say I'm going shopping at Primark which seemed to satisfy the bank cashier.

So you need to ask your customers to clarify with their own bank what is the issue.

You also need to clarify with your customers that the fact their bank is not providing them with the service they require is not grounds for them not to pay you, and suggest an alternative method, if possible.

What did Barclays say when you asked them?

Not only Barclays but also Lloyds users are questioned when paying me. I talked to my own bank, Tide, today and they said there was no problem with me. When I spoke to Barclays and Lloyds, they did not give me clear information, they said that we cannot give you information due to our customers. Indicates that there is no blacklist status. I still haven't been able to solve the problem.

By the way, when my customers send me payment, they only write "Service" in the reference field, is this a problem? Is that why it's being questioned?

does your account number begin with a zero?

that has caused me a problem in the past, some software strips the leading zero

Where are you based? Is it because you're overseas, and the banks have an issue with your country?
I live in Turkey. I have a company in the UK. My business bank accounts from local UK digital banks. I don't think that problem is about country because they don't see my country I am a company.

Banks like to see a UK address. They share data and your accounts may well be raising some warning flags.

My company already has a UK address. This address appears in my bank accounts. For example, when I receive a bank statement from my bank, the UK address of the company appears on this receipt.

But you don’t have a UK address. That could be enough to tip the balance. The financial industry is very risk averse and money laundering is a concern.

You have an account with Clearbank and that may not be acceptable to the major banks.
but I also had this problem in my different bank account. I guess there is no solution to this, it's just a coincidence about my customers.

You can try to ask a friend to send a small sum such as £10 to your account and then see if it arrives. That might tell you something.

The solution is to have an address in the UK where the addressee is the same as one of the signatories on the bank account.

Your current set up could easily be used to launder money. And that’s what the banks are wary of.
