Hi,

I am self employed and have still yet to file my 2017-18 tax year accounts (completely my own fault). I have signed up for a government gateway account and have managed to submit my 2018-19 accounts, but the options for the 2017-18 doesn't appear?

My account does say to allow 72 hours before I can see previous tax years, however it's been just over 72 hours now and I still can't submit my 2017-18 accounts.

Thank you for your help in advanced.

You can call the HMRC self assessment helpline until 8 pm on
0300 200 3600 from Monday to Friday.

Best thing to do is ring hmrc. If you ring them and they cant resolve it, ask them to put a note on your account so that you dont incur late fines.

Have your details ready and prepare for the annoying music

When did you notify HMRC that you started self-employment, and what date did you say that that self-employment commenced?

I suspect that they have not issued you with a notice to file for 2017/18. If I'm correct, and provided that you told them of commencement before 6 October 2018, then you will not incur any penalties.
