Just an FYI for members on here....

I was investigating the whole group, including GJF. I've also got lots of stuff on some other firms like RDI.

Just an FYI for members on here....

Yeah it was kinda me. I had known about green jellyfish since they started and just thought they were another advisor pushing boundaries. But following Mr. Christophis visit I got dragged into it all a lot more and started getting a much better picture of exactly just how bad they were. I...

    New computer

What you go for will really depend on your budget and if you want a laptop or desktop. HP are a pretty good brand as are lenovo for laptops and you want a minimum of an i3 processor, ideally an i5 but as above will depend on budget. Just picked up an HP from Curry's with an AMD Q8, 8 gig of...

    Network Security..

Nice thinking, i'll bring it up at our next security meeting. After which all attendees have their memories wiped, so we never get anything implemented but you can never be too careful.

downgrade from Windows 10 - works 100%. (Tested Myself)

Nope I did it a much easier way (as below) but all worked fine. Windows 98 and XP were good, as was Windows 2003 server, but personally give MS-DOS any day as Windows is the reason millions of people thought "I can use a mouse, therefore I must be good enough to work in IT" and the market got...

    Application idea.

Yes an NDA is a non-disclosure agreement. Not sure how you can say that about all programming languages as they have all been developed from different roots and for different purposes. Having an idea for an application and knowing if it's even possible or how much work and money it will...

downgrade from Windows 10 - works 100%. (Tested Myself)

When I upgraded found sleep mode didn't work properly with some HP laptops yet, so rolled back to windows 8.1 as above with no issues at all. Upgrading windows used to be a one way process unless you created an image of your machine first, so nice to see Microsoft finally added a downgrade...

What are the business tips you would like to share?

I've read all Joe's books and really like them as he doesn't try to pad just gets the message across. You can keep the ice swan provided you have also covered all the basics ;-)

Your experience of networking. Does it work?

Networking can be great but should be seen as just that and not a way to sell as people will switch off very quickly. It's also very important to go to the right networking events as some are great and some are pretty poor with the same 10-20 people turning up every time. I did a bit of...

    Application idea.

You can get a 3rd party to develop it (once they sign an NDA of course) but the cost will depend on how complex the app is. Can't see anyone buying an idea I'm afraid.

    Email Problems on my Computer.

As above, what's possibly happening is your phone is picking up emails and then removing them from the server so when your PC goes to download there is nothing there. You may be using POP3 for email pickup on your phone and don't have "leave a copy of messages on the server" ticked.

What are the business tips you would like to share?

Best bit of advice I read was from Joe Calloways book "Be the best at what matters most" and is to forget wow factor stuff and focus on the 4-5 things which are most important to your potential customers and focus on delivering these every single time. The example given was a hotel which had a...

Trying to find the right accountant.

No problem at all, if you find an accountant first they might be able to recommend a bookkeeper for you, some also do bookkeeping as well so you may be able to find one to do both.

Trying to find the right accountant.

That's exactly right, an accountant will offer advice on how to keep records and then look after your year end submission of accounts, (company and personal) tax returns etc. A bookkeeper will look after the day to day stuff like entering receipts and invoices into whatever system you use...

Trying to find the right accountant.

We moved from spreadsheets to Xero last year and it's a lot easier for reporting on a daily/weekly/monthly basis, we also employed a bookkeeper which frees up my time to do more exciting stuff.
