    There is a great site that talks about site seals or trust seals and how they can be a great an investment if you are selling something since it is a third party verification.     I have seen 796px on quite a few websites, I thought it was a standard but I'd imagine most people are at least at 1024px so I'm sure if your under that you'll be ok.

    I like to use "Gimp" for my graphics editing. Its probably not the easiest way to convert it but it can.

    Banner ads can be useful to place on other relevant sites but the cost just depends on which sites you place them on. You may want to look into a few sites and just ask them what they charge.
