Hi! I would recommend that you consult with a customs agent. You are able to export temporarily in France (for up to 6 months) if you do not have a Temporary Export Authorisation from HMRC. This way you will not pay import taxes in France and upon re-import.
However, the best way would be to...
Hi,
I can only agree with the answers already provided.
It is more time and cost effective to use a customs clearance agent, especially considering the complexity of completing the declarations.
However, if you wish to purchase a software for in-house use, I could recommend online platforms...
Hi! In customs all goods have value. You’ll have to declare the value of these goods by following the 6 method’s established by WTO agreement.
If there is no transaction involved, the value would be the market price of the goods (methods2), if that doesn’t apply move on to method 3 , 4 and so...
Hi! I’ve worked for Dachser 2 years ago as a customs declarant and I tell you this- they will not do anything to resolve this, mostly because it’s almost impossible to get through someone to speak to.
The declaration must have been submitted on CDS, and you only have to authorize them if they...
Hi, As the value of the import is less than £135 it is possible that the courier has simply cleared these goods under goods of negligible value CPC, or has used PVA (postponed vat accounting) as method of payment. Another things, could be that the terms you bought these goods on were DDP, and...
I am an independent customs broker based in the UK and what I have observed in the past couple of months is that most companies let the freight forwarders handle their customs matters, or use the same customs broker they found 2 years ago when the chaos has started.
As of today, most companies...
Hi Mike,
As long as you're bringing goods from abroad, you should have an EORI number, it is a requirement for all importers, as all customs declarations (even if these are completed by the courier) are recorded against this EORI number and also, makes you , the importer liable for any debt...
Hi, as Mike said, all shipping companies provide quotes based on the size, weight of the packages. However, I though I'd mention that if you need help with the customs clearance I am happy to help. I am an independent customs broker, with experience working both for freight forwarders and importers.
It might be possible that DHL has used PVA (Postponed vat Accounting) on your declarations. You should be able to see these details on the PVA Statements that you can get from your HMRC gateway account, if you've enrolled for CDS.
The CDS has now been postponed until 30th of November 2023 to complete the transition from CHIEF to CDS.
As a customs broker, I personally like CDS better, although it is requiring a lot more information than CHIEF did.
Hi, as the importer you have the legal responsibility to provide the correct commodity code and customs value, these will dictate the duty and vat amount payable upon import.
I am a an independent customs broker and it is a common exercise to ask the importer for instructions, as at the end of...
Hi,
Good questions! These two companies would be considered as two different entities and therefore will establish their own prices. For customs purposes, the WTO Valuation Agreement explains the 6 Valuation Methods an items must go through in order to work our the customs value. Keep in mind...
Hi Martin,
I can confirm that the all brokers have a fee for completing the customs declaration, as well as for using their deferment account, if you wish so. The customs broker should always follow your instructions and if you wish to pay the Import Tax yourself, then they should have provided...
Hey! @Customs Geek - amazing answer as always!
@SaraAPS - I am a customs broker in the UK, and I would be more than happy to assist with the customs clearance :)
