A few blogs that I find good are:

http://www.doshdosh.com - social media
http://www.copyblogger.com - blog / website copyrighting
http://blog.hubspot.com - internet marketing
The problem with this approach is that if an SEO company is confident enough to work on a site for 6 months with no payment to only then be paid on a results basis why would they work on other peoples' sites? It's likely to be far more effective to develop websites in-house.
In my opinion this...
It's a scam. I've had a company before try to sell me the number 1 position in Google... after talking to them for a while it turned out that they planned to spend the money on getting the number 1 ad position (as mentioned above), and obviously they'd have been pocketing the money left over.
Thanks for the advice Mark. In this case I'm just looking to redirect a website to another existing one (i.e. both have been established for a long time) but I'll ensure that the pages are redirected to the correct internal pages.
I was wondering what peoples' opinions are of how to redirect a website to an existing site.
I know that a 301 redirect should be used but is it also beneficial to redirect all the internal pages to the equivalent internal pages on the existing website? I can imagine this will be quite...
I'm also always really skeptical when approached by SEO / web development companies but they do appear to be top of Google for their targeted keywords.
It's probably worth investigating further as to exactly how their database works and try speaking to previous clients if possible.
I'd be very careful before buying the site. 500 visitors per day really isn't that great considering the price and with 80% of traffic coming from Google all it needs is for Google to decide that the site is no longer worthy of its high position and you'll be left with a worthless site.
I'd agree with this although if you have an established site I wouldn't bother about reciprocal linking.
However, for new sites it's still worth doing. The more links pointing to your site the better (as long as they are from relevant sites), and it's often possible to exchange links with PR5...
I'm just interested in everyone's opinion on what what's the best format for sending out email newsletters.
Ideally I think HTML is best but for some people the emails would just appear as html code, so I guess the solution is to ask people when they sign-up what email format they would like...
It is a fairly new feature - I don't particularly like it to be honest but it's pretty good for Google as they see what people are searching for within sites and can also display all their pay per click ads next to the search results.
We'll see how long it lasts though as it hasn't gone down...
Both... if you create a great piece of content you can receive a lot of traffic and link juice through other websites and bloggers linking to the content.
One of the best blogs around for learning more about social bookmarking websites is doshdosh.com
In theory a referral scheme is a good idea but how would you track referrals? For example, if someone has a database of clients who may be interested in web design how could they send out an email to them and be confident that they'll be credited for the referral?
Also, web design is very...
It sounds like the original post was made in the right spirit but as others have said, you really don't want to go promoting another business without knowing anything about - that's the quickest way to destroy the value of a database.
