Thanks James............an interesting read..............phew close shave.......

ok suggestions on a postcard and a straw pole on who is the BEST for online payment facilities........

In my case people will be paying agency fees, deposits and rents online and we will need almost instant access to see the fees have cleared. insstant access as in maybe 24 - 48 hours........enabling us to pay the third party ie .Landlord.

Thoughts please

with paypal tho do you have to set up an account.............ie would a tenant have to set up a paypal account an all that sort of stuff before being able to pay on line??

I want it to be simple for the people to pay, also i need to know that the money is good, and if not even in my account for 5 days it will be honoured since, the tenants will be paying fees and deposits online, before being allowed into the property.........

thoughts and comments please

A few years back, you did have to have an account with PayPal if you wanted to buy something from a site that only used PayPal for its payments. I think a lot of consumers were suspicious of shops that only used PayPal, and wondered why they couldn't use a "real" payment processor. What probably didn't help was the number of phishing emails coming from "PayPal" - I would imagine this damaged their reputation a bit.

I think this has changed now though. PayPal process payments in real time now, without the need to sign up for an account. Their image has definitely improved.

have to agree with Brian

I have developed for worldpay, secure trading, paypal and payonline.
Most of my customers are small businesses who don't want the overhead of lenghthy and expensive merchant account setup, especially if their online business is not as successful as they initially thought.

That's where paypal wins hands down...quick, simple and easy to setup
