Will a Long Dry Summer Help Boost UK Economy?

The Met. Office have announced that the UK could be in for a long dry Summer. However, they've done this kind of thing before and got it wrong.

From a business and economy point of view, it's interesting to know what potential impact this will have on the economy?

Guessing that with less money around and warmer weather, more people will enjoy a "Good British Summer Holiday". If so, who will scoop the monies?- Obviously Tourism, but will this be just what the economy needs to kick start it.- I feel so!!

Also, as this is our first Summer online what impact does warmer weather tend to have on the Net? Does anyone have any good opinions on this.....

The first few decent warm days kill online shopping. People rush to get the bbq going and the novelty of sitting in ones garden topless with a beer! But once the novelty wears off the so does the effect on online sales. Overall people do seem to spend more (and spend more time) online shopping during the winter. Its a comfortable way to shop in bad weather of course.

As for the direct overall effect on an economy I don't think there is one. If what yo sell is seasonal a good summer could be good or bad, depends if you sell brollies or deckchairs!

As a secondary effect plenty of fresh air and daylight makes everything seem better and picks up the nations spirits. In that respect I would say its always a good thing - and will help people worry less which always loosens the purse strings.

But mainly I want a hot summer for no other reason than I like sitting outside

Always wondered what you did!

I used to ride a SeaDoo round my local lake - great fun on a warm day! You will surely do very well.

I tried it in the sea once and ended up hitting my face with knee as I was thrown off. But still, fun on a flat lake

I think having the confidence to enjoy a jetski has a lot do with how cold the water is that you will be falling into.

The one I used to use (a friends) was a naturally aspirated 130hp. And it still nailed 0-60 in supercar times.

I see from that link the latest supercharged (I presume supercharged) are running 255hp!

I can't imagine why double the power is useful!?

is the top speed any higher with all that power? The one I used was 70moh max on a good day. Water becomes pretty hard at that speed...

Personally I'm hoping for a hot summer to get rid of a few fans, which haven't sold for the past 2 summers. We had a very good winter, selling lots of heaters.

We had quite a cold winter - part of a recent pattern, actually. Today is quite cool for this time of year, so we'll see how the summer goes. Personally, I don't see that the weather makes too much difference overall. All we hope for in this region is very few hurricanes.
