Certified Financial Accountant

Work for - yes.

In fact I had an unregulated practice contact me to see whether they could form an alliance with me to pass the higher level work over so that they can still give their clients a full service.

The ethical guidance I received was that an alliance is fine but my name and qualifications should not appear on the unregulated practice's letterhead, even as "consultant".

I have always understood that I could not work for a non ICAS/ICAEW regulated firm directly while remaining a CA.

I cannot see why that would be the case.

The ethical committee stated that providing the public were not being mis-led into believing that the unregulated firm was actually a Chartered practice with a non-Chartered partner then there would be no problem.

That was the reason that my name and letters after my name could not appear on the unregulated practice's letterhead.

Had I agreed to the alliance, I would have simply billed them for my time in the same way as any other client.

We live & learn. Not sure why an ACA would go to work with a non-regulated firm though.

Jesus wept, I have just been given an email from the first guy (the certified financial accountant) outlining why in his opinion the income my client's wife receives from Ann Summers parties is non-taxable.

I'm waiting for Jeremy Beadle to jump out here...

well it is all knickers really!

I'd like to go to one to find out what goes on.

Surely it's discrimination not to let me host me own?

Certainly must have some interesting expenses anyway

Well she tells me Amsterdam was a good few years back, she made her money and left...so I never got to see what expenses she may have claimed for that!!
