X (Twitter) to extreme for your brand?

That would make it the complete opposite of where it was before Elon took over. That being the far left.
I believe as with all social media they have their day, reach a peak and decline until they are placed by the next big thing. X is long past its peak and now the world seems to be all about Tiktok.

Like all platforms there is good and bad & for me the trouble with most who frequent these places I feel haven't got the nouse to sort the crap from the truth. For me what is more of a concern is how 'unfriendly nations' are using these platforms to shift public opinion and create division.
Personally I would sooner support X run by Elon than TikTok run by the Chinese, and then having said that I have two members of the family making a shed load of money on the latter

I know someone who posts on a range of social media platforms. They use a tool to help spread the word. When challenged on the effectiveness of all this activity they couldn’t really answer. So we stopped everything. He got really twitchy after a few days but subsequent analysis showed it made zero difference to his sales.
This doesn’t mean some businesses can do really well out of SMM but for the majority it’s a pointless exercise.
What does work well is if other people post about you. Hence the rise of the influencer. It’s not what you right about yourself, it’s all about what others write about you.

Tiktok is not a problem other than in the heads of deranged US politicians. The Chinese (or anyone) can get all the data they want on private citizens, from any number of dodgy data brokers. Those same politicians refuse to countenance any meaningful privacy laws which would fix the real problem.
Elon has money. Does anyone seriously believe he personally invented any of the technology his companies use? He's just a useful idiot. Interesting how Trump is trashing electric car makers.

We did a 6 week trial with a lady who put a lot of time into designing good graphics and copy, arguably not long enough to do much if anything but there was literally nothing. Not a single enquiry, not a rise in our followers - nothing.
I dont blame the lady, I think she did a good job. I just dont think its really geared for mortgage brokers.

Elon didn't buy Twitter as a business decision he did it to restore free-speech that the left was wrongfully policing.
He bought Twitter to further his own right wing agenda like amplifying Trump's lies about disaster relief following the recent events.

The twitter feed you see is based on the posts that you interact with, things you share and the people you follow or view.
Its very easy to change what you see to anything you want.

As a business question, this is the bit that matters.
Your political and personal views are for you to decide. Whether X is the right platform for you is entirely a question of who you need to interact with & how they interact. If they are leaving X, where are they going to?
For me, that is very much LinkedIn, though I know others have less joy with it.

Having a presence on any social media platform where you have customers is helpful.
If you prefer not to contribute financially to the platform for whatever reasons, simply do not advertise or pay for verification; use it only for support requests, interactions, social listening, etc.
I tried X for our agency, and the rewards did not justify the efforts so it stopped after a few months, but it did justify the effort for one of my Estate Agency clients.
This does not mean all estate agents will benefit from using Twitter over Instagram; that's why testing is very important, as is having S.M.A.R.T goals and always updating your marketing plans based on the results.

Whatever points I make you and your side kicks will deny that it's the case .
Anyone who works in marketing would agree that Twitter was ultra left . There are no ultra left social media organisations and never have been.
For those saying you you've never seen racist /sexist comments on X I suggest you're walking around with your eyes closed look at Trump, Edward Fox and Tommy Robinson to name but three .

I've heard of Tom Robinson. He sang "2-4-6-8 Motorway." I'm not sure why Tommy Robinson would want to change his name to be similar to a gay 70s singer.
Neither of the Robinson's appear in my feed.

Some life advice for you. Take what mainstream media report with a grain of salt. They have an agenda and most mainstream media is anti conservative/capitalism/free speech. Everything Elon Musk stands for. Obviously fortune we could assume is not anti capitalist but let's not forget who few people on this planet control a large amount of the media.
Did it occur to you that maybe just maybe the accounts banned relate to spam. Elon took over and fired 80% of employees who were effectively not needed (we've all seen the day if the life videos). I'm sure he was keen to get the spam accounts issue sorted too.

The question is whether it is abiding by its own rules. It is not.

X's policy on Hateful Conduct states, among many other things:
I have personally reported several tweets that fall unquestionably (including tweets where the N word is liberally used) under the scope of the Hateful Conduct policy. Nothing has been done.
So it is obvious that X is no longer following its own rules - whatever the rationale.
This is reason enough to look elsewhere. The issue is that no other competing platform (Blue Sky, Threads, Mastodon, etc) has anywhere near X's market share, so it's difficult to make a choice.
I have seen several people on X saying "I'm out of here" and then they come back after a month.
