Hi UKBF members,

I would really appreciate some friendly advice regarding Shipping & Returns for a UK based Shopify site.

I am currently drafting my website policies using a Shopify template. I would like to know what is the norm for 2023/2024?

What do buyers expect from a Shopify store?

Are there any banana skins to watch out for?

Anyone who can help then please hit me up.

*There's a freebie as a thank you if you can help!

Kindest regards

BB DESIGNS.

They expect the same from a shopify store as they do from any other store.

This is a good place to start:

Like too many noobs, you appear hungup on Shopify - Shopify are irrelevant - they are a platform, a route to market, not a marketplace, like Amazon and Ebay.

Well done them for getting their brand in this position!

The link supplied by fisicx is the place to start (and probably finish!).

what do buyers expect from a Shopify store is the same as asking what buyers of milk expect from the cow ?????
Unless you want goat’s milk. Or oat milk. Or almond milk. Or cat milk.

Hi BBDesigns,

Congrats on the new site build - always an exciting time!

A couple of great tips I always remember which I hope will help you a little...

When you have finished your website:
1. Get someone you know to 'buy' from your site - and record them doing it on ZOOM so you can see where they get stuck/bits that could be better utilised on the page or template.
2. Install Hotjar (or similar) and watch the recordings to see where people drop off or spend time. This might help you optimise the site to better retain or place CTA (call to action) to suit.
3. 100% install a Facebook pixel and Google analytics. Even if you don't plan to run ads (yet) you can at least start collecting data to create retargeting audiences/custom audiences at a later date.

Your biggest problem will be running traffic to the site as it's not a marketplace per se - so anything you can do to (a) see how people interact when they arrive and (b) capture them for the longer term marketing strategy will be a underutilised benefit most forget about :)

As a final tip - there is a free video series on StoryBrand (Donald Miller) which talks about some basic website 'must haves' when it comes to capturing attention of the visitor. Have a look at those too :)

Basically - think about the word 'frictionless' and make sure every part of the buyer journey meets that one word criteria. Any friction can cause them to bounce out and is a lost revenue opportunity.

Happy building - best of luck with your business endeavours.
