Italy, another 627 dead yesterday. With their healthcare completely overwhelmed, they are now seeing huge increases in 30-40 year old patients.

Sky news this am showed the main hospital in a northern town where just one patient had recovered in the last two weeks. Several ICU wards with a min 8-10 patients on each ward.

Guys, don’t under estimate this virus and how deadly it will be. If the UK doesn’t take full harsh methods, similar to China, there is no reason to believe this will not be the same apocalypse as it is in Italy. The health service in Italy is considered to be amongst the best anywhere in the world.

My towns main hospital has, two, just two isolation pods ready, for a town of 200,000 plus. They will jury rig other areas as time allows, but the UK is completely un-prepared for an epidemic. Self isolate and slow this virus down now.

Business is shutdown, no-one wants a stranger visiting themselves atm. I have been asked to self isolate for low immunity reasons, which I am doing.

Thankfully I need very little to survive, being debt free, savings etc. My family are more important than a few £.

Your attitude is one of the reason’s this virus will take so long to bring under control.

It was my husband's 60th yesterday. After some thought we decided to go to the restaurant as planned. The decision was made partly because it is a large building (old bank premises) and they made a point on their website that they had rearranged seating so people would be separated.

We were partway through our meal when a family of 5 adults and a toddler were placed at the table next to us. There were at least 4 other empty, suitable tables within sight, none of which were close to other occupied tables, plus 2 other areas we could not see. Only about 4 tables were occupied in total.

Being British, of course we did not complain, but how pathetically stupid was that?

You're assuming he has a business that he can run at the moment.

Currently in the UK, most do not.

If you are not in the UK, or the country you are currently living/working in has not been impacted by this virus, then you have no conception on how it's affecting daily life. It's beyond anyone's control.
You can either accept the situation for what it is, or be in denial.

Eventually, this will impact virtually every business in countries where this virus has been 'allowed' to take hold.

For 2 months people will be in limbo, maybe longer depending on what measures will take place in each specific country.

Believe what you want to believe, but if you are in the UK next week, reality will set in, if it hasn't already.

If you are not in the UK, count yourself lucky.

We will run out of tv shows to watch if none are being filmed
In all seriousness, this may be over in 12-18 months, that’s if we are lucky, but the economy will take decades to repair
A solution would be for everyone to wear a plastic bubble / dome thing over them with air holes. That way people can go back to work

As mentioned I had already shut it down, pointless visiting people at the moment, too many more important things on their minds. Little point in using £100’s of fuel for no return, plus the companies I sell for cannot guarantee installation dates etc.

I was running my business down this year more to part time, to have more time for myself. Now I have twice as much time on my hands. Just spent £250 on DIY materials in the last two days to keep myself busy for two weeks.

I think 95% of the UK still has no real perception of what is in store for us, reality is going to hit hard over the next two to three months.

    with air holes.
Do you know how this virus is transmitted?

It will get better much earlier than 12-18 months. If other countries are to go by (who have had the virus and infections have been lowered to individual digits), things will start getting back to 'normal' in 2-3 months.

Of course there will be casualties.

The 'norm' pre-virus will not be the 'norm post-virus.

Everyone is in the sane boat - we will all need to adapt.

You new to the forum or something? The sane boat is the near empty one. Most people are in the other boat.
So I went to do the weekly shopping yesterday. On the list, two packs of loo-paper. Lidl - nothing. Six meters of empty wall-space where the loo paper and other similar stuff used to be. Sugar - all gone! Olive oil. No. Gone. Everything in the frozen cabinets was gone. Every damn thing. Even stupid stuff like frozen vegetables!

Fresh real vegetables were still available, but all the garlic was gone. Then I remembered that some woman in China had to go to hospital with garlic poisoning because she ate three pounds of raw garlic, after she read on the interweb that C19 can be cured by garlic.

And now I hear that we are all in the sane boat.

After reading that ISIS has told its suicide bombers to avoid Europe because "it's too dangerous!" and that Lourdes has closed its healing pool to prevent infection, I very much doubt that the sane boat has many passengers!

BTW, why is all the lavatory paper disappearing? Does C19 cause dysentery?

    Read post number 1.

Picked up my first grocery order from Tesco today. They remove all the plastic outer packing and give it to you loose. That means there could be the virus on every single piece.
66 pages and 1300 posts . . . . . .and you expect people to remember the first post??

    Tell the poster to + Quote the post they are referring to . . . . . . .

My local co-op are enforcing the 2 items per customer thing, with signs up at the bread, meat and pasta etc.

However the checkout next to me today, the girl was adamant that the customer couldn’t buy 4 of whatever it was she had, but then said “we’ll just put it through as two separate transactions for you”

Then the guy serving my checkout stopped as he noticed the lady in front of me had 3 bread products, but then went “ah it’s ok, this one is sourdough”

    Lord help us all.

they also allowed people to congregate in airports. They should have at least started separating and filtering people from at risk locations. Instead, those people mingled with those coming in from safe areas, making it worse in terms of tracing and people knowing if they’ve been exposed.

It’s going to get worse. The numbers we are seeing are for those who are seriously ill, there’s weeks worth of people to come through yet. The US is going to start seeing huge numbers soon too, which will cause mass hysteria.
