I just thought to tell you my story about Lycos Eshop.
In the beginning I thought it was good, I actually recommended to a client of mine as a good solution, hassle free.Couple of months later I bough one for my wife's business. And the trouble started. In the beginning I thought I had forgotten my password. I was putting my user name and my email but it was keep coming as a wrong user. Then after 20 days finally it started to recognize my email but no password was coming in my inbox. Still logged out of the control panel for 2 months I called Lycos because they didn't responded to any email I had sent them. The line is premium rate at 10p a minute. I thought that is for business purposes and I'll get my money back after the huge Internet orders I will have with this shop. On the phone the guy although teckie, didn't have any manners and he was speaking to me preoccupied that I am another useless customer that didn't know my email address and he was trying to convince me that I typed it wrong twice, therefore I logged out for life, even if I am paying 250 pounds a year for the shop. Apparently Lycos is renting the engine called Eshop by another company and they can't help you at all. Anyway, to cut the long story short he said he will sort it out. I am on the 8th month of this deal and the emails that this Eshop sends me with the password reminder, log me in as customer but not in the Control Panel.
I have given up on them. I am waiting for the contract to run out and I have concentrated my efforts in the open source software called OS-Commerse. I admit that is difficult but it is very straight forward once you get your head around it. There is a huge community of people supporting it and there are also some excellent books to guide you step by step.
Thanks for reading
