Hi folks,
Over the past 24 hours, you may have had trouble getting onto the forums. This is because of a spam attack on UKBF that resulted in a piece of malware being placed in the site's template. This has now been fixed and I wanted to give a quick overview of what it means.
Is my private data safe?
Yes - no secure data was compromised.
Will it happen again?
No - this appears to have been a one-off issue and the security weakness has been fixed. We've also performed a thorough check to make sure that there are no more risks relating to this attack.
Is my computer affected?
Probably not - although if you clicked on any popups that took you to sites other than UKBF, we'd recommend performing a scan on your system, just to be safe. Microsoft Security Essentials is a free Windows service that can do the job if you don't already have antivirus / anti-malware software.
I'm still seeing the malware warning
Don't worry - Google automatically places a warning on sites that have been reported for malware. The site is clean and secure but it can take some time for the warning to be lifted.
If you have any questions or issues that we can help with relating to this, please do just let me know
