Yoast Alternatives

As pointed out by someone else on here recently rank math - seems to have many security flaws - some wide open.
On a different point - I wonder if either yoast or rank math have had any sort of penetration testing done ?

I've just installed RankMath and run a test on one of my sites. It gave me a score of 58. But as the site ranks #1 for all my target keywords I don't think I'm going to stress about it too much.

In reality Yoast, Rank Math, Squirrely, SEO Press are self serving bloat designed make you think they are adding value.

There are a few fundamental things that WP misses like a sitemap ( I believe that will be built in in 5.5 ), titles and setting opengrah images for social media.

I find the lighter weight 'The SEO framework' does a perfect job.

Stressing over SEO plugin traffic lights or scores is as much a was of time as stressing over performance scores. It is results that matter, not scores.

Sitemap appears to be in 5.5 but not titles and descriptions :(

When all these features will be in the core of WordPress, there will be no reason to use extra SEO plugins
There’s no real reason to use any of them. Or to be more accurate, if you have the means to edit the page titles and descriptions you don’t need an seo plugin.

Yoast is like contact form 7 and jetpack. All very popular but not very good.

Would you care to explain why or are you just post count padding?
I have used Paid Yoast for 3 years and lately, I have changed to Rank Math. because most of the features available in Paid Yoast already offered for free in Rank Math like (Targeting more than 1 keywords, redirection). Further, Rank Math has a database of a keyword so there is autosuggestion, and this decreases the human error in typing the keywords.

If you are doing keyword research like this you are doing it wrong.

I am using ahrefs in keywords analysis. However, at the end, you have to distribute your keywords precisely in the article and then write your focus keywords using any plugin like Rank Math or Yoast.
No, that's how it used to be. Things have changed you don't need a focus keyword. What you have to do is create informative and interesting content that adds value. If a page best answers a search query Google will reward you. Google also looks holistically at the whole website not just each page. This is another reason why focus keywords are a red herring.

However, your answer means that Plugin like Rank Math, Yoast, etc are useless and people must focus on the quality of content only.
Most of the stuff in those plugins is useless. Yoast in particular is very misleading and RankMath's SEO analysis is flawed.

Focusing on the quality of content is pretty much key to everything. Google has been saying this since the beginning.
