They were Yoast and SEOPress, so if you are not happy with Yoast for whatever reason, then SEOPress is the only other decent choice.
No it was Yoast and All In One SEO. They were the two big players years ago.
I believe SEOPress launched much later on.
As pointed out by someone else on here recently rank math - seems to have many security flaws - some wide open.
All in one SEO reported vulnerabilities this week by WordFence 2 million site affectedSorry, yes - you're totally right. I must've confused All in One SEO with SEOPress.
How is All in One SEO nowadays? Is it still doing well or no longer the best choice?
Sitemap appears to be in 5.5 but not titles and descriptionsThere are a few fundamental things that WP misses like a sitemap ( I believe that will be built in in 5.5 ), titles and setting opengrah images for social media.
When all these features will be in the core of WordPress, there will be no reason to use extra SEO pluginsSitemap appears to be in 5.5 but not titles and descriptions![]()
There’s no real reason to use any of them. Or to be more accurate, if you have the means to edit the page titles and descriptions you don’t need an seo plugin. When all these features will be in the core of WordPress, there will be no reason to use extra SEO plugins

Yoast is like contact form 7 and jetpack. All very popular but not very good.
What about other features e.g. rich snippets, 404 monitoring, URL redirections and other which is included in RankMath? I personally find that useful. There’s no real reason to use any of them. I have used Paid Yoast for 3 years and lately, I have changed to Rank Math. because most of the features available in Paid Yoast already offered for free in Rank Math like (Targeting more than 1 keywords, redirection). Further, Rank Math has a database of a keyword so there is autosuggestion, and this decreases the human error in typing the keywords.Would you care to explain why or are you just post count padding?
If you are doing keyword research like this you are doing it wrong.Further, Rank Math has a database of a keyword so there is autosuggestion, and this decreases the human error in typing the keywords.
I am using ahrefs in keywords analysis. However, at the end, you have to distribute your keywords precisely in the article and then write your focus keywords using any plugin like Rank Math or Yoast. If you are doing keyword research like this you are doing it wrong.
No, that's how it used to be. Things have changed you don't need a focus keyword. What you have to do is create informative and interesting content that adds value. If a page best answers a search query Google will reward you. Google also looks holistically at the whole website not just each page. This is another reason why focus keywords are a red herring.I am using ahrefs in keywords analysis. Most of the stuff in those plugins is useless. Yoast in particular is very misleading and RankMath's SEO analysis is flawed. However, your answer means that Plugin like Rank Math, Yoast, etc are useless and people must focus on the quality of content only.
