Hi - i'm in the process of writing content for my new blog/website (wordpress based) which will be aimed more towards IT students at college or university giving them an insight of employment in IT etc.

Im half decent at writing articles but compare it to a professionals and it looks fairly amateurish! Is there any way i can get around this? even if it means paying someone to write a good article which is Pro SEO and is keyword rich?

Welcome all advice.

Pay someone else to do it - even if you are good at writing it can become tedious and time demanding. If you are linking to your main site or promoting a product then the cost can easily be justified.

For bespoke articles or regular content I'd recommend lisa valentine
or, for dedicated blogging service try Emily at writemysite

It pays to do a bit of seo research beforehand so you can outline what subjects and keywords you want to cover.

thanks for the prompt response - so how does it actually work if i pay someone? Do i just give them a description of what I want and they'll knock something up? Can i make an attempt at even writing my own article and can send it off to them so they know what i'm trying to get at?

I wont have a main website - it'll just be the blog im using.

It depends which way you go but it might be a good idea to have some kind of example to work to.
If it becomes a regular arrangement then it's also a good idea to have a set format for articles and an agreed list of topics, although you don't want to be too restrictive on a person's own creativity.

Spend some time on copyblogger.com. Loads of excellent posts on how to write blog posts.

On the other hand it sounds like you are putting together an info site so writing from experience may be better than getting the polished article.

Caveat: even if you get your site together don't expect to see many visitors. There are thousands of others all doing exactly the same as you so just enjoy the writing and see who turns up.
