Hello I want to start a business on ebay, I have looked at selling iphone accessories however the competition on there is nuts. I have a budget of £200 to £300. I think dual sim phones and tablets have been selling well. could anyone please give some advice? I am considering applying for business start up loans too. Thank you

Thanks guys, I was thinking to start a gold plating business and a screen repair service for phones. I'm not so sure now, I don't have much competition in my town. I don't think anyone offers a gold plating service and to have an ebay store selling electronics too.

I would agree with Riobot. We as a business had an experiment with Halloween costumes and it worked for us. We had a tough competition and to encourage you more, we did not charge less than the best sellers price. The only thing we did was provide a good service to the customers who bought from us.
I would encourage you to go ahead and try it with small budget that you have before you can apply for a loan.

Thank you, I shall. What is the easiest way to get a business loan/funding? IF needs be.

Hi

You don't nessesarily have to compete on price, quality of listing can hedge your bets on EBay and you do still get people who choose quality over price there. However I would be wairy about selling popular electronics like this as a first business, they are fast sellers but their is a large fault and fraud level with such electronics. If you are just starting out and getting a loan you may have problems supporting potential losses. I would stay away from the higher priced electronics to start and move onto these when you are a bit more established and can cover the risk.

I hope this helps

This helps alot, I used to sell dream boxes like hot cakes! I don't want to sell any clone products. One more thing, how can I come up with a simple business plan? I may have to also seek people who would want to be my business partner.

Because loads of people have given you lots of advice on many of your threads and you appear to have ignored all of it.

Remember the chap who even offered you a job...

I dont get why everyone is still picking on me, get over it. New year, new start

Because you have posted hundreds of times over the years asking for help with business loans, business plans, software you want to offload, wanting people to give you work.

You ignore advice and offers of support and just come back time and time again asking the same questions and waste the time of newer members of the forum who haven't come across you before.

Find a product that you can sell at approximately the same price, that is popular, easy/cheap to package and send out. Then buy in a test products and see how you do. Take time or spend to create a quality ebay listing and think about how you can cross market your products, what products complement your prime product.

Finding the above is not easy, there is a lot of competition so this will be your hardest task, but it you go in to compete on price alone you have already lost the battle before it has begun.

I am in the process of setting something up to help sellers like yourself get started and find product, so pm me with your email and I will give you a shout when we really get started (first range will hopefully be up next week but this line may not suit you).

    Good luck

If anyone offered me work then I would snap it up in a second.
You did get offered a job. But you just made a load of excuses as to why you couldn't get out the house.

If you have changed then stop whining and go to the bank and ask them for a loan.

Normally, I'd recommend that you take the time to do a Business Plan including market and competitor research, financial modelling etc but I guess that Ebay is a bit hit and miss in terms of working out the traffic you'll get and competitor analysis etc. Tricky. As you have a limited budget you could always create a virtual shop window on local24seven.com and invite contacts to join your own business network then use the quotation and comms tools to trade. It's free so won't be a financial barrier.
    Good luck. Mark

To high a fraud rate, fault rate and you will be competing against Chinese sellers and are likely to get reported by competition and possibly hit with vero. They may well sell but there is a lot of downsides to selling electronics such as this that need to be taken into consideration. Did it myself a few years ago when I had just had my son and my brain was goo and time was severely limited (not those products from China, top brand electronics), I quickly moved away from them based on the fault rate alone.

    Hi Citizen,
I agree with what has been said before. I started my business by selling on ebay. I would strongly recommend you stay away from popular items such as Iphone as a first business as there is a very high level of scam, fraud + you will need your items to be kept under high security as ebay business account show the business' address so beware of havign your stock stolen...
When I started on ebay, I sold my own junk so I could have an idea of how to sell best. It is a very very steep learning curve and a year down the line I am still making mistakes.... as with every business, it takes time for the money to start being "yours", I am still skint because of reinvesting everything I earn into new stock...
As for business loans, again my personal is to be extremely prudent with that sort of things... how can you guarantee that your business will be a success and that you will be able to repay this loan?
I started by investing 20 pounds here and there, use the profits to buy more etc....
    Wishing you all the best
    Sophie
