Hi,

Looking to start a local logo design business, having had a fair good time at freelancing etc, alongside my other wholesaling business. Just wondered if it was worth having an 0800 number rather than advertising with just a mobile number, (have a seperate work mobile number)...Thinking of an 0800 number which directs to my mobile, are these excessively priced? Don't think I need more than 150 mins a month to start with. Also anyone know or even possibly supply these services.

Cheers

In short I would say no.

You are targeting local businesses so go with a local geo number.

IMHO.

If you do, you could do worse than look at www.voipfone.co.uk

We use them and find them affordable and reliable... cjd is there voice here on UKBF.

Fair enough, agree in short what you said when you highlighted local, however it will be advertised through gumtree etc and as taking payment via credit/debit card set up I think I should have said national, in this case would you recommend 0800, as posted above, £9.99 a month for a 0800 number, with 150 minutes directed to my mobile doesn't sound too bad, do you think it generally does look like a real positive for business reasons using 0800 for potential customers?

Yes and no.

I would be tempted to show both a local and freephone defo on your main site but maybe also via Gumtree. You can easily monitor the effectiveness of your ad.

logo design, primarily web based clients will come from all over the world. 0800 more useful to consumers than businesses. Not always free on mobiles. Profile your customers, who are they, how old are they, what communication method will they use. Ususally landline UK is best, and perhaps a USA number too.

Logo design isn't a local business, so why force it to be one?
