Hi

As an employer would you be happy for staff to work the extra hours Mon-Thurs, and take the Friday off?

If you're an employee, how would you feel with a 4 day working week?

A group of us were discussing this over the weekend so would be interesting to know what others think.

As en employee I think that would be great to have a 3 day weekend every week.

As an employer I feel like productivity may decrease with longer shifts. It would not be viable for my business (ecommerce) as you need dispatch all week and saturday if possible.

What are your thoughts on it?

Depends on your business. I work from home 1 day a week and I must say it's kept me from moving companies. Again only works for some businesses. From an employer perspective I would want to be able to check that they are actually working when home so depends on the role.

It depends, if it was admin or something that can be done anytime I would be open to it.
If it is a job that requires the phone to be covered then its a little trickier - although assuming you have a few employees and they can arrange cover as needed btween them, I would be open to it.

I used to work three 12.5 hour shifts Mon-Wed, the people I worked with for 12.5 hours didn't slow down towards the end of their shifts and then had 4 days off instead of 2. I think they all prefered the extra days so put everything in the 3 days they worked.

It may not work as a company wide benefit, but may be offer to staff on a rota. Just another benefit for employees which I'm sure they will appreciate. :)
