I hope someone is able to help me with the following problem.

I have been working full-time for my employer since August 2010. One member of staff left so I stepped in to take over (non senior) and I have been working full-time (40-60 hours per week) up to 1st January 2011. Staff turnover is very high. I did work Christmas day and New Years day because I needed the money, and others wanted it off.

In November I applied for a senior full time job as this role because my good friend and colleague had had enough and wanted to move on and my employer did not accept me after an interview. I'm not the best person at interviews, which is probably why I didn't get the job. However in the interview they did say will you continue to work at this employment if we do not offer you this role. I thought was a strange question to ask me - I said yes.

In the interview I told them that Christmas would be busy and we need an extra member of staff to help out - the personnel manager did not know this! but her colleague interviewing me with the personnel manager said we do need an extra person.

Only a few weeks later I found out they recruited two new employees, one would hopefully become the new senior member (which I applied for). However they both are still on trial, only one knows that he will be senior, the other is only with us for a short time.

In the time up to Christmas they was very reluctant to let the former senior member move on because Christmas is the busiest time of the year however the general manager was happy that I could do the job and let him move on. I was in charge of training and completing all the paper work and rota's for the new small team. Still at the same pay rate.

I told one of the manager that I wanted to continue on full-time with my job just before I heard about the new staff that had been recruited and she said that is fine.

However now in January 2011, no one has spoken to me and I still do the rota's, hours and holidays for everyone however I don't have a job.

I intend on speaking to the personnel manager next week to find out what has gone wrong, and why, when I have been completing the work since August 2010 I now don't have any hours and nothing has been said to me.

I started my employment with this company in October 2008 and worked full-time for a period (just over 1 year) and then changed my contract to a casual contract and worked most weeks. I remain on a casual contract to this date.

Can anyone help me how I should go about approaching this.

Thank you
