Hi All,

My business website is built off a wordpress template. Currently been running about 6 months and mostly been relying on google adwords. I currently spend approximately £600 per month on adwords but would like to reduce this and start getting a better natural search presence.

My question is how much should I expect to pay for a good wordpress SEO and what is a realistic target in terms of keyword rankings. Personally I think if its not top 5 its not worth it!

Do SEO guys work off targets i.e. no target no fee.

per keyword...

I currently run 5 keyword campaigns

sorry should say have keywords targeted around 5 campaigns

For someone on here to give you any idea of price you need to be a little more forthcoming.

You just said in another post a guy was confusing and vague and had no idea what he was on about. And then publish this. Snap!

What is your industry? What is your website? Then someone might be able to give you a ball park figure otherwise it'd be guesswork.

As stated you are really going to have to give a bit more information than you have if you want a meaningful reply.

e.g. there is a world of difference in ranking a site about sheep farming in Wales and a site about car insurance.

What sort of industry is the site in, what volume of traffic and conversions does your £600 give you each month? Do NOT openly post your keywords as that is commercial suicide. But a little more information is needed really.

Do you update the site much with new content? Have you thought about optimizing your onsite SEO?

Google loves fresh relevant content. If you can create great content that is keyword optimized, (in a natural way) with the search terms you want to be found for, you will find your ranking increase.

The Yoast SEO Wordpress plugin is excellent in showing you how well your web page is optimized. If your methods are correct at the source, you do not need to spend so much on Adwords.

Thanks Guys,

I have the Yoast SEO plugin. Also have an online marketing company writing blogs, link building and some other stuff.

I do tweak the pages from time to time when I get a chance. Need a website developer with strong SEO credentials to super tweak it.

Where are they publishing these blogs? If it isn't on your site then they probably won't be doing you any good at all.

Web development isn't SEO. It's not page tweaks you need, it's a full assessment and SEO strategy you should be considering.

The online marketing company should be doing his for you. If all they are doing is off site work then they are only doing half the job.

This thread caught my eye, as its too with wordpress and SEO.

There are some very interesting answers to the original poster and for its worth as I have recently gone down the same road, would like to add my experience, in case it helps the OP.

First and foremost, with WP SEO, you can get a plugin, which helps you to achieve rankings for free, as opposed to paying for adwords, which can, suck your bank account dry very quickly.

Now while I am no WP expert, I have found that the all in one seo plugin I have, is good for my site and does get me leads and found in the rankings ( no where near high enough, but found at least!!). so it may well be prudent to try these plugins first and speak with a WP specialist, there seems to be on in this forum ,which is excellent, as to how best to achieve the results you are looking for

Have you considered social media for your buisiness too?

The reply by Stender is brilliant and makes total sense.

Do you work together or being sarcastic? :D as I fail to see how a "have you tried social media" generic tweet is is any way helpful?!

Have you tried promotional pens?

You can get ranking for free without the plugin. The plugin won't magically improve your ranking - you have to do some work on the site.

Not if you do it properly. £10/day properly targeted with optimised keywords, adverts and landing pages can be very lucrative.

My post is as simple as you obviously are. He's looking to increase traffic and not pay so much out on adwords. You should read up on Social media it's quite useful. Most seo savvy people already know that.

I know this is a month after you posted this, but did you get the answers you were looking for?

The main thing to remember about SEO is that it is an ongoing thing. If you get page one ranking for your keywords, and say to yourself "I've got there now, so I don't need to do any more SEO", you'd be wrong, not because of what you don't do, more because of what your competition is doing.

Also, consider the cost of SEO against the ROI. If you are making three times more than you are paying, isn't that a good investment. And finally, if your website isn't good at converting leads, no amount of SEO will help you.

As for the cost of an SEO, you can get an idea by looking at what companies are offering SEO specialists by looking at job boards.

Hope this helps.

It doesn't have to be. I've got site I haven't touched for years and they still rank #1 for a whole range of moneymaking keywords.

Note: moneymaking keywords =/= competitive keywords

I agree that SEO is an ongoing thing....same as this thread :)

Would never rest on my laurels if I did get to page #1 as I have done in the past.

Probably should delete this as there has still been no reply to original question...how much is SEO?????
