I've created a Wordpress plugin to meet what I believe is a gap on the current crop.

It's a basic callback form that is very simple to use and configure. What I need are some beta testers to pick holes in it and try to break it. Even if your Wordpress skills are weak you could still help.

If anyone is interested in helping, a pm with your email address is all you need.

Ta muchly.

Thanks to everybody who has helped so far and to those who I've just contacted.

I'm not a programmer/developer. I really struggle with PHP and have to trawl the web for answers. The WP codex is excellent but does presuppose some PHP skills which I am sadly lacking. I still don't understand arrays and almost always get a 'fatal error in line xxx'.

But the fact that the plugin even works is quite pleasing. It's got no commercial value and when it's done I hope to upload to the WP plugins directory. A bit scary that....

Right.

After a weekend faffing about, I've updated a lot of the code and started to get the plugin ready for submission to wordpress.org

Anyone still interested in doing a bit of validation can you pop along to: http://aerin.co.uk/contact-form-plugin/

Those who help out get mentioned in dispatches on the wordpress plugin page (a link to your homepage) and if you have a wordpress login then you get added to the list of collaborators as well.

Should it work in a text widget in a sidebar?
You need to add the line:
Code:
add_filter('widget_text', 'do_shortcode');
to your functions.php first. This applies to all shortcodes not just mine.

I've added a new line to the blog post to explain this.

I still suggest you break that HTML out into template files for readability! :)
Yup, It's on the list of things to do but when I tried it at the weekend it all fell to bits. It's so welcoming to see the 'fatal error on line 256' message .

Crickey!

After a tentative application and a lot of messing about with an application called subversion it's gone live!

wordpress.org/extend/plugins/callback-form

Submitted at 11am - accepted at 2pm. Faster than a UKBF mod :).

Thaks once again to all who have helped. You will get mentioned when I update the read me file.

If anyone else wants to have a go a writing a plugin it's a steep learning curve but very satisfying when the thing actually works. Highly reccomended

Ok so mayb this should be in the tenders forum but putting it here keeps it neat.

The plugin is picking up a reasonable number of users but I've got plans....

(insert mad scientist laugh here)

I've refined the plugin and it works really well except for one tiny bug. My development version sends the email twice and I have no idea why.

Happy to pay someone to fix it.

The buggy version is here: http://aerin.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/callback-form.zip

If it is a CALL back form, should the second field not be to enter a number rather than an email?

Edit, I've got it. You change the fields in the call back admin area. Nice plugin, has filled a gaping hole in the plugins market.

Back again.

Been doing some major overhauling of the plugin and have what I think is something much neater and more usable.

If you want to see it in action it's here and here.

I'm struggling with a name. At the moment it's called the 'No Fuss Contact Form'.

I prefer 'Easy Contact Form' but there is already an 'Easy Contact Forms' plugin. I also like 'Feedback Contact Form'

Any suggestions for a better name?

PS: If anyone want to have a play with the plugin you can download the files here.
