Wordpress Blog SEO Question

Well this is a new one to me ladies and gents

Aged domain, about 12 years old. Used to have a HTML website and a Wordpress blog.

In 2014 they migrated to a Wordpress website and still retained the WP blog as a separate login if you get my drift.

Are there any benefits from keeping everything under one roof instead of having 2 wordpress sites on one website?

I can only see negatives like losing URL trust, especially over 12 year old URLs, to 301 them would be a large ache in the nether regions as there are so many - but it's doable.

Has anyone experienced an identical situation and offer advice on this situation please?

This is something you will have to experience as no one can really tell you how important it is to Google but you. But simplify would always mean that and that works well with Google index and visitors as well.

Personally I would consolidate onto a single wordpress deployment, 301 redirect all the old stuff and then make sure that one wordpress site was as fast and well built as possible. I would imagine doing internal linking and SEO managemnt via a single wordpress + yoast situation would be worth the effort in migration but I guess it depends on if the client is willing to spend the time/money doing the work to combine the sites.

Yes sure after such a long period and to make the Process simple its better to switch to only one website. running a parallel blog will only make the process more difficult and will increase the cost. Redirection is the best option.
