WooCommerce Installation advice

Looking to add WooCommerce to our existing website & blog.

I'm aware I can install it on the existing installation, or I could set up multisite and have woo as it's own separate installation.

I'm thinking multisite will prevent me buggering up the entire site. Other than that is there any advantage or preferred method to either option?

I think it depends on how you want to integrate the shop. If a Link from one website to the other is fine then go with multisite, but if you want to share data like having automatic promo listings on your main site or in the sidebars etc then you really need to install it in the main WP instance.

Not really fussed about sharing data.

Most of our stuff is bespoke, so hard to price, but seen a few companies having success selling packages, as the usual works slowed up. It will be more of stand alone site with the offers/packages.

You don’t need multisite. If the shop is to be part of your core business then it needs to be integrated. If it’s a extra the install in a sub-domain

Will stick it on the main site, it's not going to be full of products, and not going to get huge amounts of traffic.

If there are only a small number of products do you really need woo?

Woo will do what I need, as there will be a few products, but a number of options, payment integration, and if it works well it's expandable.

Start by installing on a subdomain. That way you can play with the settings, install products, set up variants and so on.

You can then move the shop to the main site at a later date if you want.
