Ok so one Packard Bell laptop with vista that hasn't been switched on for nearly a year - needs to be connected wirelessly to router.

So, wired to router have installed all missing updates - which took forever - so of course being wired means connection.

Wireless another story!

So I then went and downloaded latest drivers for wireless for latop - still no luck.

Its connected to a sky router (brothers!) using a wpa2 connection with password thingie right. I can connect my smartphone and windows 8 laptop no problem - its also got a mac that connects to it and a windows 7 laptop as well - so anyone got any ideas what to do next please!

I'm assuming that you can see the router name in the list of available networks?

Go to Control Panel > Device Manager and check to see if there are any icons showing for the wireless network adapter, such as an exclamation mark or cross. Also right click the wireless adapter in the Device Manager list, to see if there are any issues showing there and to ensure that it's enabled.

You mentioned that you downloaded the drivers for the wireless adapter - was that from the laptop manufacturers website?
