Windows 8 RT Surface available to pre-order from £399 for delivery by 30th October.

http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msuk/en_GB/pdp/productID.257929400

it includes Office Home & Student 2013 RT.

just remember this version of Windows 8 won't run your existing Windows apps, only those available in the Windows Store.

you'll need Windows 8 Pro to run existing Windows apps (expected early next year).

In which case it's a pretty hopeless launch. It's like the win7 on my netbook, so many services are blocked that's it's almost impossible to configure to run efficiently.

What he is trying to say is Windows 8 will be available on tablets in 2 flavours.

Windows RT - More Apple iOS style where apps are available through an appstore or Windows Marketplace

Windows Pro - Full featured windows, install what you like and do what you like.

Windows RT is a cut down version and designed specifically for tablets and therefore cheaper than full fat Windows

Personally I will be going for full fat.

We will be going for some Pro versions of the surface, since we like to have the portability, and the productivity.
We already have iPads which are good for basic apps, but we are not very productive just using them, we really still need to carry a laptop if we are travelling.
I wouldn't like to be in the same boat again after going for the RT version.
