They've just combined salt with already widely available malt vinegar powder (the same stuff used on crisps) and got it out into the public domain. They haven't really invited, created or done anything special.

They've just lucky that they've managed to get a good PR campaign out before anyone else has.

I imagine their marketing department would put it down to more than luck...

Powdered vinegar has been around for years and it's widely used in pre-prepared foods, crisps and so on. All they've done is mixed it with salt and branded it as a product which is intended to be used more by the general public.

They're lucky in how they've managed to achieve at least some PR success (and possibly commercial success) just by re-branding an already widely available ingredient.
