If you have multiple channels you wish to do keyword research for and want to sound like an idiot explaining the pronunciation of this tool to your watercooler buddies, then Soovle is a perfect fit.
Soovle allows you to explore the most typed in keywords on multiple search engines based on the keyword root you give it. It even includes Amazon and eBay.
Not only is it a great keyword research tool to use, but it’s also a great brainstormer as you can slowly start typing in your ideas and allow it to auto-generate its own ideas.

Hi All !!!!!! For me it is Google Keyword Planner is the best keyword tool planner which is also Free of cost and apart from that there are many other keyword tool like YouTube Keyword Tool(Free), Competitor Source Code(Free and for apt for Meta), Ubersuggest(Free), Wordstream's Keyword Tool(Free), SEMrush(Free), Google Planner etc., are the most effective tool for creating and researching for Keywords according to the latest trends. Hope you find it informative..........Thanks for asking .........

Rank Tracker way better than every other one I have tried , keyword difficulty, Keyword Efficiency Index, competing website research, you can use the free version of it from here , costs about 90 quid I think for the pro version, which is well worth it if you are doing this work on an on going basis

I have used scrapebox (but that is paid software)

For all those suggesting the Google Keyword Planner - it's a useless tool. It's an adwords tool so your results are always going to be skewed. It's reporting the keywords people are bidding on which may be very different to the things people are searching for.

As Jose said above, SEMRush.com is an awesome tool. I like it because it provides competitor PPC insights, enabling you to get keyword ideas based on similar companies. The seasonal variations in spending by some is often a good yardstick about when to pull back a bit, as people spend differently, based on the niche and time of year.

Your incoming search terms from Search Console (the only real data you'll get from Google)
How? Google now hides search terms. You can extract some data form the server logs but this isn't practical for most people.

Google Keyword Planner + Competition research - use your competition work. When you find good keywords, check with google adwords if those keywords work for your business. Then get Majestic SEO and again, now check your competition backlinks source and get backlinks from that places. Don't use paid apps on learning stage of SEO and don't waste money on tone of crap SEO courses - they only exist to get money from your pocket. And Learn, Learn, Learn Everyday something new !

One more vote for Google Keyword Planner, although I also do not rely 100% on it as a few of you mentioned above that it shows only advertising data and things might be different when it comes to organic. I have tried a few more alternative like Keywordtool.io but you need the paid version to see search volume and I don't think without it you can make any significant assumptions. Someone mentioned A hrefs are you happy with its keyword planning possibilities? I have a paid account there but so far have used it only to track my competitors, check my top pages etc.

Semrush is more preferable, if you have its paid account. It gives you not only a keyword density and PPC but its main alternatives you can also use.

The historical keyword rankings of competitors within a market segment, is awesome information. Knowing that it's only a subset of all the possible ranking terms, must be kept in mind, but seeing the shift over time, expanding footprints, new ranking pages, plus a bit of archive.org and the backlinks + google updates, and you can piece together who is doing what picture of the landscape with a minimum of data sources and effort.

My best keyword research tool? Myself. Does that make me a tool?

Seriously though, people rely too much on Google Keyword Planner and other tools. Lots of terms that I get great traffic for on my content writing website and some other sites I have don't even appear on Google Keyword Planner.

What's also apparent is that the Keyword Planner is often wrong. I can't remember the exact instance now but recently it was trying to tell me that there were thousands of searches per month in the UK for a blatantly American term for a UK item.

Google Keyword Planner and other tools can play a big part in your keyword research but common sense should be your first port of call.

If you're looking for keywords about 'swimming pool installation', think what you would search for and what your target customers would search for and use that rather than just relying on keyword tools.
