Neither.

If you want to drive more people to your website then FB and G+ are not the way to do it. You need to do dome keyword research, target your potential clients, build a site the meets their needs then market the result. You do this by ensuring the site meets the search engine guidelines and has inbound links from relevant sources. This can take you a year or so.

Or you can just pay for adverts and get targeted visitors within 24 hours.

If you are new to SEO then you really need to start by reading up the ton of tutorials that are available online. If you don't then you can end up down an irrelevant rabbit hole.

As I experience Facebook and Google+, both are very important social media network for our website. But when we are talking about visit then that is depending on how many friends we have in Facebook, Google+ and how you interact with them. It's depending on how interesting we share on both social networking website.

If it is possible, you may use both f them. Social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn can bring you potential clients or partners. But SMM is more about building reputation. In case you need more website traffic, you may use backlinks, blogging, PR websites, forums etc. What about Facebook and Google+ comparison, some people believe the first one is for friends and the last one – for business http://www.jeffkorhan.com/2012/06/facebook-friends-google-business.html Here are some materials you may find interesting http://sproutsocial.com/insights/2011/12/google-vs-facebook-business/

Both are equally good. Depending on how you target your website & make a strong marketing strategy You would be able to get higher ranking results in major search engine, which helps a lot. I would also like to tell you that; G+ & FB both have their Pros and Cons, but the crux lies in effectively leveraging the pros. The next update will be on social media so be careful while attempting.

Thanks

People keep saying G+ ranks you well in Google but I see no evidence of it. I think it's just another "thory" put out by Google to get people to use the service. I don't for one minuite think increasing the numbers on a count would be linked to ranking. I know no one who uses g+ for business on a regular basis. No one has begged me to join their circle etc

Facebook can deliver, it's more inpuative and the audiance is already their.

Twitter is a wash with spammers and only really good for real time notices not regular contact in most cases.

In my opinion I think Google itself probably favours Google+ pages for obvious reasons.

However if you are running a social media campaign there is no reason why wou couldn't utilise both.

The only thing I will say is i'm still unsure if these avenues actually lead to sales - in a B2C environment it is more about raising brand awareness and keeping in touch with your customers.

Hope this helps.

IMHO Google still rules the search engine world. Facebook are the best Social networking platform, closely followed by Twitter. Blogger is a free blog tool run by Google. If you want to climb to the top - use all three of these!

I run a blog by blogger, have a facebook 'ticker' on my web page and ensure that my Facebook updates automatically go to my twitter account. I have also linked my blog to Facebook.

Here's why: if I want to do a short update - I just post to Facebook and it automatically replicates to Twitter. If I want to write a longer piece about something, I write on my blogger - which then automatically shows up on my Facebook - and then on Twitter. So I'm using all three platforms to help my online presence.

Having a good web presence is more than keywords and backlinks. You need good content and you need to change content now and then. Having the Facebook ticker on my website allows new content to be displayed on my page on a regular basis. This keeps the Google 'crawlers' interested.

Having a links page is important. The links must be two way - three way is better. Use the links page to link to other businesses but not to direct competitors. Eg I link to other business but not to other photographers - unless they do something very different to what I do. So I won't link to other stock image photographers or photo artists but I will link to photographers that do weddings and portraits because I don't provide that service.

Make sure that some of the general text on your home or index page is relevant to the business.

hope this helps.

Happy new year :)

Facebook and Google+ both are good. If you are running a business then you have to interact with the people related to your theme(business) and Facebook & Google+ both will help you to generate traffic for your business. :)

All the best.

Those who use facebook and google and other SM sites will use these as a primary data source. They don't tend to go off site. Ergo, you cannot generally drive visitors to your site via SM. If you want visitors to your site you need to advertise or rank well for theings people are searching for.

Surely social media, i.e. forums, FB, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, etc, etc, etc, is a good way to drive traffic to a website?

Branded or unbranded content on your website disseminated and shared via numerous SM channels. As well as forum recommendations, links in forum signatures to name a few??

According to me, G+ has been become necessary for website to rank better in Google. While if you are looking for audience appeal you should make presence on both, Facebook and Google+. But, Facebook is leading and helping to get more n more number of people to land on the shared posts while Google+ is not popular among Internet user's as Facebook.

Why not use both?

They will both offer great returns in terms of targeted traffic - the major point is do you have time to maintain two big accounts? I have found that I have had to make time for my social accounts such as Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook and G+ - as I want to get the best result possible in return and spending more time will prove that.

You need to ask yourself do you have the time to maintain more than one account, do you need more than one social network to better your business or is all of your audience mainly on Facebook rather than G+ as G+ is growing but not necessarily growing with youth users for example like Facebook.

There are easy routes out of having to keep several social networks updated - I.e for myspace I don't use it as much but I still want my posts to be there for my following and I use IFTTT and it sends my updates to my MySpace feed when I update Facebook with an article for example.
