Which card offers the maximum consumer protection?

Hello

My impression is there has been a huge increase in scammy sellers and I am not talking about random ebayers but also large supposedly reputable companies.

Unfortunately with debit cards it's ridiculously difficult to get a chargeback and with credit cards there is no protection below £100.

Is there any other method that does not limit usability or add costs but offers better protection?

E.g. does paypal have a physical card or any other bank or financial company?

Thanks!

Don’t buy from scammy sellers. It’s not difficult to spot the dodgy dealers.

There are a few highly sophisticated scammers out there, who will get you. They are a tiny minority.

The majority are chancers who rely on their victims being lazy and greedy in varying degrees. Challenge them, ask meaningful questions, seek evidence & they will scuttle off to find an easier target.

Slightly off topic: A scam being practiced in shops is where the "buyer" simply authorises a refund on the terminal instead of paying for the purchase. Some merchants have lost thousands simply by selling a cup of tea and a sandwich.

It's not as simple as that. It's a misdirection technique that requires the thief to process the refund on the POS not the card reader.
