You need to be careful, after the auction price, there is VAT and 'buyers premium + vat' maybe even an internet surcharge. As a general rule you almost need to double the auction price.

Then dont forget all the scary terms and conditions, such as paying a deposit to be allowed to bid in an auction. Talk of charges imposed if you cant collect within the specified time. Charges for credit cards. Factor in the cost of viewing and then collecting, plus the cost of reselling, there isnt much margin left. It almost feels like a bit of scam buying from online auctions at near trade price.

You will be unlikely to find liquidation of a specific shop. Normally most liquidation sales are 'Freds engineering' with some nice old computers, dusty chairs and the owners Merc, then half a dozen salable items / lots. Or the other favorite, 'pallets of returns and un heard of suspect perfumes and the like'.

I dont know, but I think that high street shop retail liquidation will under go a special process (de-branding / packaging?) and is probably a closed club. - I have never seen any. Most large shops sell direct to the public as a closing down sale, its just not worth the administrators going and collecting, storing, selling the items. The rest of the stock may belong to the original suppliers.

Look at the recent House of Fraser story, the distribution company behind it was owed 30 Million, they obviously saw this coming over a long time. Hopefully suppliers ramped down output as the debts increased.

That said I think its a good way to buy vehicles or large machinery assets to keep rather than sell.

There are places that will sell a bulk load of liquidation stock. Mix of OK stuff and dross.
One of the market traders I worked opposite several years back used to buy in a dozen pallets of stuff, bin a few pieces and shift 80% plus of it on multiple market stalls. Offloaded the rest via ebay on days he wasn't on the market.

You will find numerous auction companies like the ones mentioned already if you go to https://www.i-bidder.com/

Outside of auction houses you've got big retailers like Argos that run their own operations: https://www.argosclearance.co.uk/ and https://groupongoods.bstocksolutions.com/

You can sign up to wholesaler forums like this one: https://www.thewholesaleforums.co.uk

    https://auctionnews.com/ offer a subscription.

There are people offloading jobs lots in eBay which has a section specifically for this.
