Where should I post my Blog (and it's not in a bin)

Having had a company website for a million years and an industry blog for a couple of years now I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on blog promotion? I currently use Twitter and LinkedIn and post it on a financial services forum site but I'm conscious that I could probably do better.

All suggestions welcome :)

What are you hoping to achieve? Do you want visitors or do you want leads?

Either way incorporate the blog into the main site rather than a bolt on as it is at the moment. Use the blog posts to lead visitors to the money pages.

As to promotion, all you have to do it write the stuff people want to read. Spend as much time on the post titles as you do on the content and google will rank you well. People will then do searches, find your blog posts and hopefully pick up the phone to find the right mortgage.

Realistically what are you trying to get out of it? Traffic to get people into your marketing funnel? Leads? Followers? That's the trouble with social media, unless you know exactly what you want to achieve out of using it you're going to struggle and ultimately consider it a waste of time down the line.

For me financial services have always been a bit of a dry topic on Facebook, being a photo-centric platform there's only so much creativity to be had with finance. Take Mint.com, with it's Facebook group boasting 170k+ Likes but only 5 people liking their updates it's really enough to paint you the picture.

LinkedIn is probably where it's at, initially, for you so try to focus your energy on there. Make sure you or someone else is keeping an eye on the traffic sources too as this is vital to know!

When it comes to LinkedIn you really need to get involved with the groups, give your knowledge away and add to the articles written by authors on the publisher platform that LinkedIn has. Do as little self promo (go for a 15 comments/shares to 1 personal blog shout out ratio) as certain groups can be a cesspool for self promo - the lack of it coming from you will give you a helping hand.

Sorry Christine but that's not true. It might be useful for some businesses but not necessary for anybody. For example, I can't see the Technocrati crowd being interested in Jewellery or Mortgages.

Technorati is great for SEO purposes...
LInks are no-follow so the SEO value is virtually zero.

PR is a vanity thing - it has no vcalue in the real work. PageRank on the other hand does have value but it's not the dame thing a the PR score. In any case, the Page in PageRank refers to Larry Page the inventor not the rank of a page.
