Where is cache being stored

    I'm doing some work on a Wordpress site

    It has no cache plugin activated

    Really strange things are happening, I'm seeing differently layouts on different browsers even on different PC's and devices.

    I make changes with one browser and see changes on some pages not others

    I updated everything cleared cache on browsers flushed DNS, reset router

    I see the up to date version on one browser, different versions on other browsers, even looked at the site on a PC that had never been used to see the site before and it was showing an old version.

    I've no idea what other people are seeing and no idea if updates I am doing are having any effect.

    Any one any idea of most probable cause?
    Browsers, Router, Cookies, ISP, Host?
     
    Getting stranger :(

    On the same browser, when logged in to Wordpress everything is showing the up to date version, when I log out some pages show up to date version other pages show old version.

    Would that suggest it's probably cookies related?

    Ive never heard of an ISP caching content in my life, they cache DNS but not real-world assets.

    Anyway try holding CTRL and pressing F5 on your keyboard, if the page then updates then its your browser caches. If not then it is something server-side with your hosting.

    Being logged into admin is a clue of this, that there is some sort of cache mechanism on the server, but could also hint at a browser cache too.

    I think there is some caching system on the server (don't have access to hosting yet so can't check)

    Everything was up to date this morning on all browsers, but the changes I make today only show when I am logged in. (I assume at a set time the changes will take place)

    Does this sound like a server setting with the host?

    Yep, very common on cheap hosts where they use it to lower the resources required to host 1000s of sites on the same cheap infrastructure. Caches like these are the banes of developers' lives.

    http or https? If you have both enabled do you have the same problems with both?

    Can you see whether it is the HTML, CSS or something else that is different?

    Do you have any caching Wordpress plugins? Try disabling them.

    1st time I have come across it, it was driving me mad as I tend to do updates in one browser and also have the site open in another (not signed in).

    The extra cost of decent hosting is well worth the time you save dealing with crap like this.

    I have never had this problem, even with the cheap hosting. Just how cheap is your hosting for this to be an issue!

    No idea, like I said previously, I don't even have access to the hosting.
    I've only got access to the Wordpress control panel at the moment.

    One trick that should work is add a query string to the page url

    e.g. example.com/my-changed-page?cache-busting-query-string=random112h3e

    example.com/my-changed-page?cb=r3773

    Do the hosts flush it at set times throughout the day, a couple of times a day, once a day?
