Whats wrong with my site?

    Marketing our new site fairly heavily with PPC and direct mail not had any sales off it. It looks a good site to me and the designers were great and the products popular offline. Can anyone see anything clear why it isn't selling?

    You've got google analytics on your site. So, what do your stats tell you?

    You've got large amounts of data that will give you very specific factual feedback.

    That information will tell you how qualified prospets react to your site in the real world and that's worth more than a few people on here having "a guess".

    Yeah looking through that at the moment. Just wondered what an 'average' consumers view of the site was thought maybe the size guide for the prints was wrong or something simple like that.

    I must say the designers we used have been really helpful with ideas (and anayltics) for getting the site going and throughout the process of getting it up they've been the best I've worked with.

    Where else have you had success selling this art? Is it somewhere where you can engage the customer in you as a person? I don't think the site sells you as a person at all.

    Art is subjective and I regret to say your work is not my cup of tea at all. Online if people don't like it they click on through to the next site.

    I would also say that it is not clear exactly what it is you are selling. It seems at first glance to be a site selling diaries.

    I suggest selling yourself a bit more. The site looks like it might be trying to sell those cheap paintings you get from China - it's not enough of you.

    Right.... Lets see.

    On the whole, the site is pretty good. It looks very tidy.

    Issues:

    1) What is that address book doing in the most prominent spot of the website? I'd get rid and put your best product right up front. I don't think those searching for prints are that bothered by an address book, it would be an extra purchase if anything.

    2) Pricing - I don't often say this but I think your prices are too cheap. £4.99??? I can't say I know the market in any sense, but I'd expect to pay more than that. "Cheap" can send alarm bells ringing.

    A lot (all?) of the prints are sold for £4.99, I'd be inclined to mix this up a little, with the more popular prints selling for a bit more.

    You could also do Limited Edition prints, as a lot of people like to be unique, or "lucky" to have purchased something of limited quantity.

    Remove the "Save %" where no savings are being made.

    3) Frames - Are these without any frames at all? (Hence the price?) Get some frames and pictures of these prints in frames. I wouldn't buy without somesort of frame, because frankly I don't know where to get one... Plus, it makes it harder to order a present for someone by having to go to two shops. Also, I'd mix it a little with the range of materials you print on.

    4) Special Deals - Are you sure these are special? Looks the same price to me. I'd perhaps up the original price to £15-£20, and then to do a "special offer" of two for £10. Ultimately you still get the minimum you originally wanted.

    Mutliple Order Discounts might be good... I know a local pub (doesn't everyone lol) which has just had a refit, and has many canvas based prints on the walls.

    5) Who are you - Get some images of yourself on there! I'm pretty sure people into art like to "know" who done it. Oh, and get a phone number displayed somewhere upfront on the site. (If you own a Bricks & Mortor store get pics of that on it too)

    Other than that, you just need to sort out some of the template code which should be showing up, and also make that "On Offer" image clickable, so the user can buy it.

    One way to test this is to set up a poll here and ask what people think of the work - try to give them a choice of answers which force them to have an opinion. Answers in a poll are anonymous so you may get some good feedback.

    We've had artists here before. People don't want to appear critical, but to be honest sometimes the work was not up to it - it wasn't good enough to base a business on.

    At the end of the day, if it isn't to at least some peoples' taste, you are not going to make many sales and you are wasting your time.

    Although the designs are not for me, I'll give you feedback on the site:

    - I was browsing one picture, then went to another and added the 2nd to the cart to see how it worked. But the website added both to my cart ?

    - Is delivery really free ? Really? Because that's what is said in my cart. If it really is free then shout this loud on your site

    - no telephone number

    - no "about us" - I mean, who are you ? Why should I buy from you ?

    - on the delivery - how long will it take

    - do you take paypal ?

    Once your website has all the errors ironed out, look at your stats.

    - what was your ad message ?
    - what KWs did you bid on?
    - what page did you send them to?
    - where did your visitors go / and then leave ?

    because if you were bidding on "paintings" it's not going to work. If you bidding on "prints" you will get all kinds of searches coming over - so check on your PPC settings as well -- see Steve's post before
