So you are going to base your whole email marketing strategy on price rather than quality of service?

And trust it to a bloke working out of his bedroom in Bristol...

Hi all, took a free demo of the DasGoot Emailer service http://www.dasgoot.co.uk/dasgoot-emailer-best-price-email-marketing-and-newsletter-software/ and it's really good. All the tools/reporting you need, easy to use and deliverability was excellent. They say it's only available to UK businesses established over 2 years though but shouldn't be a problem for most here.

At £15 a month for unlimited sending - I'll stick with them for now! Will report back if anything goes astray!!

Hi Nick et all,
After working for a ESP for over 7 years (left 5 years ago) and keeping good views on the market at last count i found over 180 ESP's in UK alone, if you then add in many of the US providers you will find plenty good one to choose from (and even more bad ones), looking at this tread i can find a lot of information of what a ESP's offer but less about what your requirements are, so depending on your size, budget and importance of emails advice would be different. would be great to understand if you are managing all data, content, tracking or if you are outsourcing some of this, depending on who you outsource to I am sure that they will have some preference that might be relevant as well. Then start thinking about frequency and type of emails will also very who you should go with. If you can share some more info on this I am sure you can get advice that is more relevant to you as well.

Good Luck!

I have used both Maxemail and Mail Chimp. Each had its quirks and advantages and it comes down to the size and complexity of your email operation. If it is a simple campaign for a small mailing list I like many of the previous posters would choose Mail Chimp.

Maxemail has the advantage of being a highly versatile system in the right hands and can deliver a multitude of campaigns across multiple teams.

I think that comparison page is out of date as a few items are incorrect regarding MailChimp. Not sure about the others.

I use Chimp and it's been great. Started off with the free plan which has all the features you really need when it's a small list.

Now I'm paying £100/month as my list has grown a lot which is a bit of a pain but that's for unlimited emails so easily make that back in a single email. The additional features are helpful such as coordinating the replies.

I've also used both html upload and customised their templates and both work very well. Plus they have intergration for almost all systems.

They also have two-step login which sends an SMS to your mobile so nice and secure.

Hi all,

Thanks for all the advice. Just thought I'd report back that we've been using this service for about a month now and everything is 'simply soopa' :).

The system itself is probably more designed for the emailer with a little more experience - i.e. it doesn't have the really really easy template builders that some others do. That's fine for us as we're experienced anyway in dealing with templates/html.

Outside of that, there's nothing I can see that's missing. Excellent deliverability from UK servers and all the tools you need - list segmenting, transactional, auto responders, tracking, froms, etc. and we've actually started using their API's now so you can manage the lists, subscribers etc. automatically from our own systems without ever having to log in.

Support has been handled very efficiently too so all in all - pretty good.

I guess they're aiming to be a bit of a 'boutique' ESP as they only deal with UK businesses over 2 years old but that's fine by me.

I guess the 'chimps (and alike) of this world are aiming more at the mass market who don't have as much experience in handling their own emails - from a design point of view I mean. But, to me, it's a shed load more money just to get a pretty way of designing was is essentially an html document!

If you're more experienced, could be worth a go. It's working well for us but as before, I'll let everyone know if we start to encounter any problems.

Best to all.

If you're a small business owner, then Mailchimp is your best bet. If your business relies heavily on email marketing then it's worth taking the time to learn how to use Aweber or Get Response. They have the best open rates for emails but it really depends on your needs.
