It's in Finnish but it's not complicated. There are fields for postcode (5 numbers) and estimated usage and big button to see the results.

What would be your first action when you land on the page?

Put in my postcode, usage and click the button!

I'm assuming there would be a reason for me getting to this page though? It doesn't give me any information as to why I am there?

It will be part of a lead generating page. This is just the plugin.

When we did some user testing the majority clicked on the button before entering the values.

We think it might be better to hide the button until both fields have a value then when it springs onto the page it will have a stringer CTA.

Not sure if this would work but you could make the button red and the text input boxes green and then when the data has been entered make the text input boxes normal coloured and the button green.

Edit: Oh and you can simply disable the button using JS until the data has been entered.

The button is disabled until both fields have valid values. Then when you click that button hides as it's not needed anymore.

It's set up the way the client wants. I've made lots of suggestion but they are happy with how it is.

Apparently they have been looking at other comparison sites in Finland and have just randomly picked the bits they like.

But they have paid me so I'm off down the pub.

Add a description as to why you are entering the data and/or, do not allow the button to be pressed until the fields are completed.

I should have also added - no nudge/pop up saying add something (maybe I missed that).

That was suggested but the client don't want none of that.

Then persuade them, as the professional that is your job, to tell them what they need, assuming they know nothing about such things.
Actually no. My role as a developer was to create the plugin to the customer specifications. I wasn’t tasked to design the plugin or the website.

I made my suggestions but they were overruled. As I said, the client was happy with the functionality of the plugin, they paid and we have moved onto their project.

How does the customer know what specs a plugin needs unless they're a plugin developer. Maybe when queries are concluded a thread could be closed? Saves redundant responses.

They provide the developer with a set of requirements. Formula for the calculations. Output formats. Style guides. Sample data. The developer interprets this and writes the code. There is then an iterative process to refine the plugin.

It’s a well defined process use by most developers.

As a customer I could not provide any of this "Formula for the calculations. Output formats. "

The best I could manage would be " I want it to do xyz and be pink and green". Bit like when I'm buying a car.

Yes but you are not the buyer of a financial plugin. If you were you would know how the maths is done. You would know what outputs you wanted. What legal information needs displaying for your country. And your marketing plan which drives the form and structure of the page.

Once I search nice and clean list comes up.. I think it is pretty good. Two comments:

1- If I change the usage amount after first search, it changes the current listing but it doesn't give any new providers. It needs a 'start' again button in case someone entered the wrong info or wants to search more.

2- I would have a list of providers' logo scrolling under KILPAILUTA NYT button and a rich footer section to make it a bit more attractive.

Changing the usage just changes the cost. The order and providers won’t change.

If the client wants scrolling logos and a rich footer on their site they can do that. This is just a demo of the plugin.

That being said, tests have shown animations usually reduce conversions. Especially on the predominant user device: a mobile phone. And additional content at the top of the page pushes the converting content below the fold.
