What is .uk.net Domain Name?

S

SEODEV#338055

I want to take a one word domain name with the ending .uk.net

However I can't find any information about the ending from Nominet, only for .net.uk one that is reserved for ISPs

I am suspicious because there are too many single words that nobody has got and they all cost 25 quid each

business.uk.net
lawyer.uk.net
hotel.uk.net
rugby.uk.net
manchester.uk.net

Something's not right - anyone know? Is it legit to use for a business?

An old friend of mine owns the licence to .uk.com, and .uk.net is the same in principle. It's late so going to skim the technicalities...

    Someone registered uk.net ....
That person now sells sub domains of .uk.net

If I wanted to I could sell subdomains of ukbf.com as an example. So I could sell developer.ukbf.com if someone wanted to buy that @SEO Developer and uk.net is technically no different. There is however a different licensing agreement in place for .uk.com and .uk.net (and a few others) though compared to the rights you have when registering a regular domain.

Because these domain name options aren't as "liked" as regular .uk or .com domains. It's basically a subdomain of a subdomain so not perceived to be valuable.

In the early days you could get a uk.com domain. Probably still can. But it’s not a TLD, it’s just a sub domain.

It seems that certain registrars are flogging sub domains as domain names
They are domain names. The term sub-domain just defines the structure.

They are part of the uk.com top level domain. No different to uk.com. Wordpress.com does the same thing. Google recognises the sub-domain as a separate website.

Would you register this sub domain name?

I mean c'mon taxis.uk.net nobody wants it for 25 large?

So must be extremely low value if nobody has parted with a pony yet
