Hi guys!

I want to send a gift to a Chinese business associate to thank her for her hard work, are there any recommendations of what to send or anything I shouldn't send (she is a young lady if this helps!)

What is it like posting things there, is it likely to get to her and will she have to pay taxes?

Thanks :)

Most Chinese people I know are impressed not by the present itself, but the attention you paid them. So, I believe the young lady will highly appreciate you consideration, no matter what she receives. I would recommend no buying something expensive as
1. you are not sure if it will arrive safe
2. she might need to pay some tax

As a native Chinese person, I think whatever you send she would be appreciated - just order a bunch of flowers with Chocolate with an online flower delivery, I've done one for my girlfriend and the gift arrived safe and sound.

Or you could send some luxury branded small bottle of perfume, those were standard gifts we give around back home and besides Chinese girls are obsessed with luxury branded goods

I concur with both the brand and the consideration taken. I have spent a lot of time in Asia and the issue of "face" is paramount, even when discounted by the recipient. Their being able to show "face" in mentioning your gift to their friends and colleagues will count.

At the moment, I think Burberry an outstanding and yet classic choice as being from the UK but representing modern style with serious desirability. However, any main brand will likely be very popular and well received.
